    His name is Darius Shahinfar and you wanted to point out that he is a good friend of mine. And how... We just re-launched our website and posted a video from his campaign kick-off event. And that... We had about 200 people at the kick-off party and folks were real excited.

    And mostly that... Darius is simply a great guy.

    In particular you wanted to let everyone know... He is also one of the first edorsers of the "Responsible Plan" that Darcy Burner and Eric Massa came out with a week ago.

    And that uniquely... He is a first generation Persian-American and that you think like I do that is a pretty happy story that America is still a place where him running for congress can be a reality.

    Lastly, you wanted to tell everyone how I'll be spending the rest of this year busting my hump to make him the first Persian-American Congressman in U.S. History.

        21st Congressional District is currently held by retiring Rep. Mike McNulty.

        McNulty initially voted for the Iraq War but has not been shy at all about admitting it was a mistake. "You were right and I was wrong" are his exact words.

        The district covers the capital district of New York state and is a mixture of small city (Albany-Schenectady-Troy) and rural communities. The bulk of the population is in Albany County. Like most of upstate New York the economy is seriously depressed with industry having left long ago and not much having replaced it. For years state government has kept job statistics healthy in Albany County but today a report came out that said even here things are getting worse.

        There are 5 democrats and a couple republicans and a guy that I don't think anyone wants to claim running for the open seat.

        It is a generally safe democratic seat. It is the safest open democratic seat this cycle. But it is not a lock. A republican can win this district so we can't take that for granted. It is unlikely, particularly this cycle with the R's have keeping their own seats to worry about, but it is possible for a Republican to win so we need to keep an eye on that. However, odds are that the Democratic Primary is the election.

        So this is an opportunity to emphasize the better part of "More and Better Democrats."

        I obviously believe that Darius Shahinfar is that better democrat.

        We just added some stuff to his issues page which will give you a bit of an idea where he stands and the video on the front page will give you a little sense of who he is and what sort of sense of humor he has. It'll also show the enthusiasm he has going for him amongst supporters right at the start of his campaign.

        I've know Darius for several years now. We met after the 2004 election when he joined my DFA group, Democracy for the Hudson-Mohawk Region, and the two of us then went to work getting Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand elected to Congress in the neighboring 20th district.

        I have been as excited as could be since he told me he was considering this campaign and am looking forward to a fun and busy summer getting him elected.

I've been less horrified than most people by the tone of the Clinton campaign -- I'm from Massachusetts, folks; this is kindergarten stuff -- but I've been continually gobsmacked by its relentless public stupidity. If this thing goes on another month, they're going to have to water these guys every morning.

  I am so peeved right now.

  A friend is in LV tonight and sent me a picture through MMS to my blackberry.  I tried to open it and got an error message.

  hI've been wasting my entire friday night trying to troubleshoot why this image won't open - as it has happened to me too many times before.  TMobile has been a no where land for support, while the Blackberry fan sites just mention the problem  and don't give me a working solution...

    world of Intellectual property.

    Changes are it's a licensing issue.  Some variations of the Blackberry handset (ie, the low-end ones) aren't always equipped with all the correct software side decompressors for all formats.

    If your friend sent you a photo compressed with anything requiring royalties, chances are, you are out of luck.

    (Get an iphone).  Sorry, it's my APPL tic.

      I know Intellectual Properities too well.  Hell, the Beatles threatened to sue me (Apple Corps LTD) for violating Intellectual Propertiy laws with a web site.  (True story).  

      This is a tech issue alone and it's from the Blackberry and T-Mobile world...  Not a Intellectual Property/copyright/ Decompressors/software world

  The more exposure Moon and his dangerous ideology get,  the better.  This type of exposure is great because it withers and drains the "mainstream" value of the organization, and ultimately, this is what it will take to make conservatives and so called centrists disassociate themselves with this group.

  These types of subversive personality cults thrive because they are known only to those under the influence of the group.  When they get widespread sunshine the results always the same: the leaders contract the group, become even more tryanical, and accelerate their own downfall.

  The truth is that I TOLD people, white and black, in the beginning that he would never win.  That his hope was false hope.  And I acknowledge that I did that because I was AFRAID.

  AFRAID of what happens when hopes are dashed.

  AFRAID of what happens to people like him who speak
  out and with honesty; i.e. JFK, MLK, RFK, etc.

  But he won Iowa...so I looked him up...

  And then S. Carolina....so I looked him up...

  And now...for the first time in my life (I have a degree in Music and African American Studies), I realize how much FEAR has permeated my experience.

  DAMN YOU BARACK OBAMA.

  You made me believe in hope again.

  I love you for that.

  I am transformed and blessed...because of you.

  Hope.

  My sister (one of three) who has been a Bush apologist for a few years actually told me yesterday that sometimes when she sees stuff like the "yes we can" video, she thinks Obama may be the antichrist.  When I told her I've read the bible cover to cover and there was no evidence I found of that, she asked "haven't you read the left behind series?!?!"  Uhhh.. nope.

  The craziest part is that she still may vote for him in November.  The other two sisters and I are working on her still.
