      Up will pop two boxes:  One called "URL," wherein you will paste the direct link to your image on Flickr.

      In the other box called "Label," type some pithy phrase that summarizes what we'll be looking at if we click the link (exactly like "The Seminole Democrat" in your sig).  

      Then click "Add", then Preview and Post as normal.

      CAVEAT:  Be sure to resize the image to that it's nice and small and won't mess with people's margins on their browsers or cause the thread to load slowly.

          Sadly, I did not get a picture of the Tora-kitty headbutting Hubby in the side at 6:00 this morning. "Daddy, get out of my spot! It's time for you to get up!" She likes to take over his side of the bed after he gets up in the morning. And before he goes to sleep at night.

          She doesn't try to take over his desk and chair, though. That's Raquel's bailiwick. ;)

          My hubby can be such a sucker. :D

    One of my kitties is having a terrible time with his asthma. I have an appointment to take him to the vet this afternoon after work but I'm so worried about him at home. His kitty sister means well but can't take care of him!

    He was very lethargic yesterday...coughs a lot and doesn't really eat as enthusiastically as he usually does. Poor thing...he just wants to get better.

        Usually a steroid injection clears him right up. We actually have to give him an inhaler four times a day but he isn't responding to it as well as he used to. I think he's developed a tolerance.

        So hopefully by the end of the weekend he'll be as good as new. I'll give both my kitties extra hugs tonight for Jake. (Jake's got a great big schnozz! how cute)

            It is easy to fill up a Mac with downloads that are hard to find just using finder.  If the problem is that you don't know where all your hard drive space has gone to there is a free OS Xutility called Disk Inventory X that will give you a graphic view of the type and size of files.   This makes it easy to see what has filled up the hard drive and to delete it.

    Lulls happen but have little significance. In this case local elections are coming up and the firefight is over which party or coalition will represent the Shi'a.  Cheney's recent trip to Baghdad probably gave Maliki the OK to take out the Sadrists while Ahmadinejad's recent visit probably laid the basic foundation since Iran needs the Sadrists quiet and docile in the face of future Iran/Iraq agreements.

    Checking out al Sadr on the Web today, I find the same stories that he has disappeared to Tehran and that he is being armed and trained by Qod forces.
    Until we understand the dynamics of Iraq, we will never be able to see peace there.

      No mention about what the targets are here but as I understand it the areas that the Mahdi  Army is holding against the Iraqi Army and their Bader Brigade helpers are densely populated slum areas of Bassara. 

      That puts some real limits on the use of bombs dropped by jets (at least I hope it does).  And there some traditionalists who still hold to the quaint old view that for an occupying military to be using bombs dropped by jets into urban areas in order to "fight lawlessness" is in itself a war crime.

  and found a note from a state trooper asking us to call him about the accident at 2:38 in front of our house this morning.

  Our mailbox is pulverized, there might have been a fire, there are car parts everywhere.  

  Which means a cop car with lights, a fire engine, noise, possibly a ringing doorbell...and we slept through the whole thing!

    I woke up one morning very early in my apartment house to get ready to go to work and found blood stains all over the walls.  There were about 6 other people living in the house.

    Everyone was asleep at the time, so I didn't know what the hell happened.

    Turns out that during the night one of the roommates violently beat another one, the cops were called, an ambulance came...and I slept through the whole thing!  And I'm a very light sleeper!

          The support post, the metal thingy that holds the support post to the concrete pad, and several parts of a Pontiac were all lying around in the street, so we moved them to the back porch.

          The post - a 4x4 cedar post - was splintered.

          What I don't understand is how the perpetrator hit the mailbox and not the telephone pole.

          The sign is my pathetic "Dear Postal Carrier..." sign.  He's a nice guy - he put the mail in the box and carried it to my door!

  •  When I was in the military living in the dorms

    I would regularly sleep through fire drills and be woken up by the fire department. I would have gotten in a lot of trouble for it this one time, but there were 3 guys from the fire department in my room yelling at me to get up for 10 minutes straight, before I actually woke up, so it was clear I hadn't been faking.

    I sleep like a rock but I train myself to wake up for certain sounds, and I'm also trained (from growing up next to a busy railroad and from working on loud diesel generators in the Air Force) to not be woken up by loud noises. No matter what else goes on, I sleep until my alarm clock then I wake up immediately. If my alarm clock doesn't go off, I wake up 15-30 minutes after it would have gone off.

    All in all, pretty useful traits.

    As a kid, when the house next to ours was being built, it apparently caught on fire one night. I slept through all the fire trucks and what-not.

    Only time our mailbox was ever taken out was by a couple of guys who decided to play "mailbox baseball" down my street. They would have gotten away with it, too, except that they took all the mailboxes with them and decided to sit on the pile and drink beer afterwards. roll eyes

    After that, I think we had the only non-brick mailbox on our street.
