Paid for by Hillary Clinton for President

Tue Mar 04, 2008 at 10:53:18 AM PDT

Just when you think Sen. Clinton's campaign is done throwing the Kitchen Sink at Sen. Obama, they find some wrenches in the cabinet underneath and decide to keep chuckin'.  Then some drain-o.  Then some moldy sponges.  Then some 409.

You get the idea.

The latest item in a barrage of flying kitchen utilities is a radio ad that sounds like a news story... that is, until the end when the announcer identifies the ad as paid for by Hillary Clinton for president.  The ad is being run in Ohio.

Text of the ad after the jump.

This is an election news update with a major news story reported by the AP.  While Senator Obama has crisscrossed Ohio giving speeches attacking NAFTA, his top economic advisor was telling the Canadians that was all just political maneuvering.  A newly released document from the Canadian government shows that Obama’s senior economic advisor met with the Canadian Consul General and made clear that Obama’s attack on NAFTA were just, quote, "political maneuvering," not policy.  Political maneuvering, not policy.  In fact, the document shows that Obama’s advisor also assured the Canadians that these attacks against NAFTA would not continue.  Obama would not want to be, quote, "fundamentally changing the agreement."  As Senator Obama was telling one story to Ohio, his campaign was telling a very different story to Canada.  How will Ohioans decide whether they can believe Senator Obama’s words?  We’ll find that out on election day.  Paid for by Hillary Clinton for President.

If this ad succeeds in fooling voters in Ohio, it speaks volumes as to the levels Sen. Clinton's campaign will go to dupe voters.  By pissing in the news stream, Sen. Clinton and her campaign are ripping the credibility of the Associated Press -- and news media in general -- to push a one-sided, exaggerated attack.

Edit: The real slap in the face is that Sen. Clinton thinks that the race is "civil and positive".

Uh, what?

Edit 2: YouTube clip from comments that, uh, you know... frames the whole NAFTA issue.

Not just voters, but imagine what she'll do when she has control over the White House Press Pool. This kind of stuff makes me wonder how dedicated she’ll be to reversing the colossal power grab Bush began. A person who creates an ad like this, and constantly plays the fear card, is not about to clean up FISA, end the use of signing statements, restore habeas corpus or restore checks and balances. And if anyone believes for a second she’s gonna do anything about health care, then I’ve got news for you—real news!

And forgive the rant, but why does it seem that it always has to be fucking Ohio that decides everything. I long for the days when the only things I ever heard about Ohio were how much the Bengals sucked and how Drew Carey was fat but kind of funny in a lukewarm way.

      •  Amen. I'm in Michigan and maybe it's regional (0+ / 0-)

but I basically cannot stand Ohio.  If Clinton can't win there, she can't win anywhere.  I think the guy a couple weeks ago that introduced HRC is a good representation of why not to like some Ohioans--all that crap about Birkenstocks, latte-drinkers, etc.  HELLO?  There is all that shit IN OHIO, dumbass. The 40-50% of Dems not supporting HRC are supporting Obama--and all that is happening inside your own state.  It's a sad day when we KEEP letting those people make the final decision.  Talk about an abusive relationship, Jon Stewart doesn't know the half of it.

          ... is it?

Pretty tough rivalry there.  I'm sure Ohioans are bred to hate Michigan and vice-versa.  All for NCAA braggin' rights.

          •  Yeah, that's at least part of it. (0+ / 0-)

Funnily enough, though, I live just off the U of M campus and didn't go to the school.  I only have a Michigan spirit against OSU during football season.  I would tend to agree that Michigan students and grads are latte-drinking, pompous bastards but those people are VERY WELCOME in the Democratic party as far as I'm concerned.  On a larger scale, and outside of my liberal haven in Ann Arbor, I think Ohio is pretty much full of cavemen.  Growing up a half-hour from Ohio, I've spent enough time down there to believe most of them shouldn't have the deciding vote.  Maybe this year they've all emerged from the rock they usually live under, but I doubt it.

...first, hasn't the whole Canadian flap been debunked and secondly, hasn't Clinton OWN POSITION on NAFTA been "questionable"?

Shocking, simply shocking that HRC would lie and distort in such a Republican-lite fashion......oh wait.....never mind....

Obama's people say the memo "misrepresented" Goolsbee’s  comments, but nobody will say what his actual comments were including Goolsbee himself.  The Canadians won't take any questions on it (understandably) because they don't want to be seen as meddling.  But I struggle to think of anything that could be misinterpreted as: "more about political positioning than a clear articulation of policy plans."  Did they leave out a word "Not" or something?

It scarcely matters now.  Our nominee is certainly going to have their feet held to the fire on NAFTA.

especially the part where it's implied that it was Goolsbee who said the phrase "political maneuvering." And making it look like a news broadcast. Ugh.

yet.  I plan on putting Big Eddie on here shortly....but this reminds of what Sinclair broadcasting was (maybe is still) doing with their commentary in the middle of the local news.  They would have Mark Hymen come on as if he were part of the news show and spew his anti-Kerry or anti-democratic filth on the air and people would think it was credible news, instead of just some idiot telling us his opinions.

    From Salon:

In an article in the conservative New York Sun Monday, Jack Keane, the retired general who coauthored the "surge" strategy for Iraq, said he believes that Hillary Clinton, if elected president, would not order an immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq, and praises her for it. "Senator Clinton is very knowledgeable about national security and is probably going to be strong on defense," Keane said. "I have no doubts whatsoever that if she were president in January '09 she would not act irresponsibly and issue orders to conduct an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, regardless of the consequences, and squander the gains that have been made."

    http://www.salon.com/...

Keane turned down an offer to be an advisor for the campaign.  He briefed HRC on the surge.

Um, why is this not being mentioned on CNN instead of this bogus NAFTA crap?  Oh, I forgot -- the media has to be "fair" and attack Obama for a while just to show how far they can jam their tongues up the pustular orifice of the Clinton campaign.

Didn't the original canadian TV report say that the Clinton campaign also reached out to the Canadian gov.
Not one reporter mentioned this yesterday. could it be that Clinton staff planted a seed w/ Canadian gov who then requested the meeting w/ O's economic man and got the messages all twisted accidentally on purpose ?
