Update: Obama & "The Golden Section"
Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 09:10:49 PM PDT
Obama's path towards the Presidency currently symbolizes a proportional rule of nature, The Golden Section, considered by many to be the most aesthetically pleasing and ubiquitous ratio in art, design, physics, and architecture. Totally the percentages by which he was won and dividing by the number of races completed yields a percentage that is less than 1% of the perfect golden section ratio!
While both Obama and Clinton currently share 'space' in the golden section of the primary, after Wyoming Obama now holds the golden section of the vote.
The Golden Section is an ancient mathematical formula reflecting 'extreme and mean ratio' or 61.8% of 100%. You find this all over nature: plants, the seeds in a sunflower, fibonacci numbers, where the navel is located in relation to the total height of the human body. Even the three bones of any finger approximate this golden section relationship: each bone in any finger of the human body increases by 61.8%.
The Golden Section is a ratio based on a phi
The Golden Section is also known as the Golden Mean, Golden Ratio and Divine Proportion. It is a ratio or proportion defined by the number Phi ( = 1.618033988749895... )
It can be derived with a number of geometric constructions, each of which divides a line segment at the unique point where:
the ratio of the whole line (A) to the large segment (B)
is the same as
the ratio of the large segment (B) to the small segment (C).
Sectioning a line to form the Golden Section
In other words, A is to B as B is to C.
This occurs only where A is 1.618 ... times B and B is 1.618 ... times C

The Golden Ratio: The story of phi, the Extraordinary Number of Nature, Art and Beauty
Euclid defined what later became known as the Golden Ratio thus:
"A straight line is said to have been cut in extreme and mean ratio when, as the whole line is to the greater segment, so is the greater to the lesser."
Einstein says:
"The fairest thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the fundamental emotion which stands at the cradle of true art and science. He who knows it not and can no longer wonder, is as good as dead, a snuffed-out candle."
Mario Livio, examines how phi, the Golden Ratio, is the most inspirational number in the history of mathematics, espousing its influence on Buddhism, Indian poetry, and ancient as well as modern architecture.
In quantum mechanics, the connection between the 'elementary charge" and the Golden Section is illustrated in a formula which places the electron charge on one side and The Golden section on the other 'where phi is the value of the golden section and PI is Archimedes` constant"
Golden Obama
An analysis of Barack Obama's 29 victories to date, reveals a percentage of 60.97% of the total number of votes.
Scenario 1: Michigan and Florida revote. The Democratic Primary race, with 32 out of 53 contests is about 66% complete (1.66)
Scenario 2: MI and FL don't count. The Dem race is 59% (1.59) complete.
Analysis: Add percentage of both scenarios, divide by 2 to attain an average 62% (1.62). Round up the golden section from 61.8%(1.618) to 62% (1.62).
Predictions:
Post-Wyoming, the Democratic Presidential campaign has a hairsbreath beyond the golden section of the contest. We are currently vibrating within this ideal moment ...
But with 13 contests left, the 13th State to hold elections marks the golden section of the remaining primaries.
If Barack wins 13 of the remaining 21 races, the golden section of All he votes remains true to the golden section rule for all of the Obama Campaign.
