New meme -- Hillary Clinton: Serial Exaggerator

Sun Mar 09, 2008 at 09:54:38 AM PDT

Remember what they used to accuse Al Gore of by making up things he didn't say? Well Hillary is really doing it!

Not only does she exaggerate her own accomplishments and freely take credit for the work of others, but she also exaggerates when she denegrates Obama's accomplishments.

I have a lifetime of experience. John McCain has a lifetime of experience. Barack Obama has a speech he made in 2002.

Really, Hillary? I expect Senator Lugar and all his colleagues on the Senate Foreign Relations committee would be surprised to hear that since he thought Obama co-authored their successful legislation to reduce the threat of loose nukes getting into the wrong hands.

And then there is the irony that Bill Clinton in 1992 could never meet Hillary's "Commander and Chief Threshold" TM, since he was only a couple years older than Obama is now and had absolutely NO foreign policy experience. I guess Bill wasn't qualified to answer those fateful 3AM calls to the White House. Or does Hillary want to add "911 Changed Everything" to the list of right wing frames she's adopted for this campaign?

How about a Google bomb on "Serial Exaggerator" for Clinton? The Bush campaign and the press unfairly used this epithet to discredit everything Gore said. Hillary acutally DESERVES to have her current claims -- about bringing peace to various areas of the globe as First Lady, passing legislation others wrote and sheparded through Congress, etc. -- and future inventions summarily and pre-emptively discredited.

If we can do that, then whatever garbage she flails at Obama will boomerang against her, as it should, and we can wind up this nomination process before she does real damage to our chances of winning in November. This campaign would have the added benefit of undoing some of the damage she's already done because when Republicans play back Hillary's attacks against Obama (which we all KNOW they will), we'll be able to laugh them off ("consider the source").

So: "Hillary Clinton is a serial exaggerator" -- pass it on!

      Check that one out too.

      1. She was corporate lawyer (walmart fig leaf to cover their glass ceiling)
      1. All sort of strange financial dealings (observed even in her current campaign. Influence of money/where she is campaigning/what she is saying)
      1. She never holds elected office aside from NY senator. And she claims to have 35yrs of experience.  (Bill Clinton shadow/hatchet person/PR appointee only get her partial credit.)
      1. Passing threshold. What threshold? She is comparing herself to somebody who get shot?  (being walmart shill isn't a qualification)  On top of that, Does Laura Bush pass the threshold? She was in Ireland too. How about Dubya? (oh yeah, big one)

Basically: Time to scrutinize her thin resume. She is basically corporate lawyers and Bill's PR hachet person before her senate run. She has nearly ZERO elected public office experience.

And you wonder why she is so pro corporation/republican lite?

      •  yes, but even that's a selective answer (5+ / 0-)

The Clintons haven't released their tax returns since 2002.  I don't have a problem with her waiting until after this year's deadline to release her 2007 taxes.  But what about 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006?  What is she hiding?

Trying to fool, you can loan your campaign 5 million dollars that no one knows were they came from, but you cant pay a CPA to do your taxes in time?

I'm sorry YOU buy their BS. Oh and you can take it to the bank that she will not release her taxes before PA unless she seriously EDIT them.

  •  While dismissing being right all along.... (8+ / 0-)

She not only defines "experience" in being close to someone important, but dismisses Obama being actually right on the war.

By her own metric, McCain beats the living shit out of her.  Indeed, Cheney beats the living shit out of her.  Rummy beats the living shit out of her.

    She can't win.

  •  Moe than a meme (7+ / 0-)

It is truth. The Hillary "experience" myth is all smoke and mirrors. I know Hillary did more than pick out china patterns in the White House but she did not do even one fifth of what she is claiming. She has LESS legislative experience than Obama. Across the board her credentials are suspect, which doesn't bother me as much as her BIG exaggeration - the "35 years of experience!" Not even her own staff can add up 35 years of her doing anything in experience that relates to being president.

Hillary's lack of experience is not the problem - her lying about it is.

The job of a surrogate is to expose delusional claims such as HRC's "experience credentials."

She is delusional and a monster too! (he, he).

  •  In terms of hiring... (6+ / 0-)

...this kind of embellishment is called "resume inflation."  I think that really fits in this case. She even uses the same words typically used by people who try to inflate their resume, like "instrumental in."

She keeps saying she thinks we should hire her as president. So, it's entirely appropriate to ask her to document the things she claims in her resume.

A friend pointed out a curious fact about Kosovo-Bosnia. Of all of the books written by the Clinton Team on the subject of those conflicts, not one mentions Hillary Clinton. Not. One.

Those are chronicles written by Albright, Clark, and Holbrooke, all integral players at the time and members of Hillaryland. In her 429 page book, The Mission: Waging War and Keeping Peace with America's Military Dana Priest does mention Hillary Clinton:

As dinner approached, the guests squeezed in around a thirty-foot-long crescent-shaped table that Hillary Clinton had commissioned in Chile. It was only the second time she had asked workers to haul it out so that everyone could sit within her husband's gaze and no one would feel left out. Waiters in white gloves slid Maine lobster, beluga caviar, and veal noisettes onto their plates as the U.S. Marine Band Strolling Strings breezed by. Bouquets of white flowers adorned the table. It looked like a wedding and felt like a family reunion.

That was the only one found to date.

  •  Marriage to a serial adulterer (0+ / 0-)

and public humiliation on such a massive stage has probably destroyed whatever sense of shame HRC ever understood--cheating is a way of life.  According to Carl Bernstein and Sally Bedell Smith books,  Bimbo erruption during '91 campaign and her containment, had Bill "owing"  HRC and that's how she got UHC position, against the advice of Lloyd Bentson, Donna Shalala, Rubin and the other grown up in Bill's administration.  Lewinsky humiliation got her NY Sen.  Every professional 'experience' HRC has had since marriage, is due to the marriage.

  •  Fact check her claims (0+ / 0-)

All of the claims to "EXPERIENCE" on her web site need to be closely fact check. The exaggerations seem to also include claiming apparently sole credit for an outcome others had been working on for years.

The "Irish peace maker" has already been debunked and she has shown to have lied in her stump speech, conflating two meetings and inventing what happened. I am currently working on a diary about another claim but it looks like many of her claims do not stand up to scrutiny.
