A Pledge: change is here...

In the interest of those that expect DailyKos to be a serious place, and want more profound discussions, I'm making a pledge:

Starting today ~

I shall respect their wishes and do my utmost to write more serous diaries. There are many subjects on which I am well versed but have chosen to be silly in my diaries instead. Whether you would like to discuss the collected of Emerson, or the finer points of Austen, or other traditional literature writers...I will make that effort.

In the interest of history in the making this year in the Presidential campaigns, I will dust off my extensive knowledge of American History, colonization to the Revolution. I shall write about the economics that finally spurred a diverse group of people to coalesce around change that was needed.

I shall make a pledge to work to understand and explain the wonkish policies of whichever candidate is nominated by the Democratic Party. My voice in the blogosphere shall be focused on imparting knowledge and sharing the wisdom of my many years.

And for those that want more than lolcatz...I say they are correct. There needs to be more than silly pictures and giggles. Life is too serious to laugh every day and share giggles with friends.

So...since I've done my previous TTFN diary...this is my I'm here and "you damn well better listen to me" YDWBLTM diary!

Will you support me in my pledge to be serious?

Will you pledge to recommend all my diaries so they shine as beacon of light on the Rec List?

•  Meh, the serious diaries I write

  get even less attention than the semi-serious or non-serious ones.  So clearly, people here are not seeking only serious, informative diaries.
   I prefer a good lolcatz diary, to a bad serious diary (and there are plenty of those.)

  •  I'm not sure many really want serious

    There are only a few good serious diaries that ever make the rec list. And too many slip away ~ thank heaven for jotter's list so I can go read the next day. Keep writing and we few will keep reading. I always write on the theory that I'm doing it for myself if it is really serious. Otherwise I'm terribly disappointed.

  •  Shall we discuss the boycotts of the 1760's

    and the reason for Revolution was not taxes. It was the British Parliament had banned the manufacturing of metal based tools, read farm implements, by the colonists. It further required that all such tools be purchased from England. This resulted in a substantial boycott of goods from England AND a subsequent raising of taxes in retribution.

        goods, and by providing purchase supports for the UK manufacturers, the short answer would be yes. There was an substantial increase in the need for tools as the Colonies grew. The UK manufacturers were also seeing a vibrant new market of consumers. So the Crown / Parliament passed 'price support' or product support laws.

    without coastal access. Is it possible that we could substantially disenfranchise all non-coastal states. We'd need a blue ribbon commission to evaluate the negative self-esteem impact of encouraging one working class over another. Also, we would need to determine whether pirates are in fact unionized.
