Blitz Boy: Hillary must win North Carolina

Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 12:35:59 AM PDT

Real Clear Politics apparently thinks that Wolfson: Obama Must Win Pennsylvania is front-page material.

I've got to hand it to them. They pulled off the classic bait and switch, developing a huge audience with well-organized polls. Now they are the new Drudge, acting as nothing more than a stenograph machine for Clinton campaign surrogates.

Anyway, since Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson has declared Pennsylvania a must-win for Obama, I thought I would declare North Carolina a must-win for Clinton.

Outspending Hillary Clinton 3-to-1 in Pennsylvania, Barack Obama must win there on April 22 to demonstrate his ability to win big states, said top Clinton aide Howard Wolfson today during a conference call with reporters.

"Not able to keep up with Barack Obama's fundraising, Hillary Clinton must win in North Carolina to demonstrate her ability to drag out the Democratic race," said blitz boy today on Daily Kos.

"[Obama is] doing everything he can to win in Pennsylvania, and if he can't, it'll be a serious defeat," said Wolfson. "We all know the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue runs through Pennsylvania."

"Hillary Clinton is doing everything she can to win the Democratic race. Even though she can't, she won't admit defeat," said blitz boy. "We all know the road to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue runs through 50 states, not just big states."

During the call, Wolfson and T.J. Rooney, Pennsylvania State Democratic Party Chairman, also unveiled the campaign's radio ad responding to the Obama's contention that he doesn't "take money from oil companies."

During the blog, blitz boy was under heavy sniper fire. Even so, he was able to point out that Hillary Clinton takes money from lobbyists. Barack Obama does not.

Previously, I thought that Operation Chaos and somewhat less favorable demographics would make North Carolina come out a bit worse than Virginia did.  Now that it's clear that the Clinton camp is running out of money and desperately needs a win in Indiana (assuming a win in PA, of course), I expect them to almost completely neglect North Carolina.  I wouldn't be shocked by a 65-35 win here.

WARNING: There is a high probability that the preceding comment is snark. Use your best judgment (hopefully better than Senator McCain's).

Either Wolfson thinks the American public is stupid or he and the rest of Hillaryland have lost their minds.

She is the Establishment Candidate. With the exception of Casey, Hillary has the backing of the entire Pennsylvania Democratic machine. Gov. Rendell is reported to be a master politician. Some leading Democrats have said that Rendell is the best supporter any candidate can have. It has been suggested that his endorsement means a guaranteed win for Clinton in PA.

Instead of campaigning like a winner with a clear chance at the nomination, Hillary has run like a victim almost since Iowa. Were it not for her own inept leadership and blunders, lies, and generally poor judgment she would have maintained a substantial lead in PA.

Is the American public supposed to believe that the onus is now on Obama to prove his electability by winning PA?  I think not. Hillary must stop moving the goal post. There's an old adage that says; it's time to either do your business or get off the pot. Actually it doesn't say do your business, it says something else. But I'm sure you'll get my drift. It's time for Hillary to either win or concede the nomination.

If Clinton's supporters want to know why she's no longer the media darling and presumed nominee, this is a prime example.

In fact, I posted that we should make Mississippi a Must-Win for Hillary, right after Ohio.  But nobody seems to have caught on to what the Hillary campaign does with their well-crafted expectation manipulations.

Seriously, why didn't we make Mississippi must win?  Why not make North Carolina a must win?  Why should the must-win states be ones that are Hillary-turf?  If North Carolina is too black for a must-win, then, okay, how about Oregon, a very white state?  Is Oregon a must-win?  If Hillary can't win Oregon, she's just farting around, right?

If we were smart (obviously we're not -- collectively speaking) we would play the same game back.  Axelrod should be on the three cable networks saying:

"Pennsylvania is tough.  We think Hillary has a big advantage, but we're going to fight her for it.

But if she wins PA, the question is, can she win North Carolina?  Hillary is so far behind in pledged delegates that she is running on fumes, and if she can't pull of a win in the remaining states, if she can't use them to catch up, then she will have stopped being a serious candidate."

And on the night of the PA election, assuming Hillary edges out Obama by less than ten points, Obama should crow about his victory in keeping her score under ten.  And either way, he should proclaim:

"Now it's on to North Carolina, where we will finally see if Hillary Clinton has the momentum to catch up.  And we'll be waiting for her there.  Hillary, I'll see you in North Carolina!  You better bring it!"

Clinton with her slick willy machine certainly beats Obama in one field, time and time again. The expectations game. I'm really dismayed about this, but she manages to spin slight losses, ties and tiny victories into huge victories and landslide, and the media, but also the people (including Obama supporters) fall for it time and time again.

To bad for Clinton winning the expectations game would never help her in the General Elections. I mean what is she going to do after McCain beats her in Novemeber (assuming she steals the nomination). Play the expectations game again?

"Oh my look, McCain got 284 delegates but with my hurt primaries and all those angry Obama supporters it should have been a landslide!"

cafta. Bill made 800k off of them. Wolfson and Penn are involved with the agreement.
I think they were hoping the vote would come after she had the nomination and quite possibly the election sewed up. Then I fully expect that Hillary would have voted for the bill.

You could update it by mentioning how many more times the Clinton campaign has visited NC than Obama as evidence that she really has to win the state after all that effort.

Obama/McCaskill vs. McCain/Jindal? Call it a funny feeling.

real clear politics is a right wing biased piece of
junk.  they have been slanting things for mccain and
clinton for months because clinton is an establishment candidate, and nothing more.  i used
to think that the horserace blog was okay but the
more i studied his stuff this year the more i
concluded that he is biased against obama.  i told
him so a few times and he finally responded in a
totally defensive way and proved to me that i was
    right.
