Obama said what FINALLY needed to be said!

Sat Apr 12, 2008 at 01:12:09 AM PDT

You have Hillary and McCain trying to play politics as usual and addressing non-issues like those that actually cause a supposedly 'enlightened' people to vote for the likes of right wing shills like George W. Bush and John McCain. Unless McCain nominates an idiot like Mitt Romney, you will probably see him as the next President of the United States. Why? Because Hillary is not offering enough of an argument to actually make you believe that she--a polarizing figure already hated in most of the red states--could be a viable candidate for the Presidency in 2008. I have a friend in North Carolina who said to me, "If you don't think any Southerner capable of getting out of his/her deathbed to vote AGAINST Hillary wouldn't, then you're sadly mistaken. We didn't like Bill or his wife then, and we like her even less now!"

Obama is addresing the core problem of American voters today. Fact is, they don't want admit that America is no longer NUMBER 1 in the world, whether it be in literacy, healthcare, infrastucture, civil rights, education, etc.. When we were on top of the world--or so we thought--we thought the greatest threats to our SUPERPOWERDOM were such things as abortion, immigration, gay marriage or gun control. We were indeed that stupid that we thought rising economies like India and China, to which we shamelessly outsourced our labor and manufacturing base to, were not the actual threats to our way of life, but rather internal non-issues like gay marriage, abortion and gun control. We were so worried about what happened within our countrymen's bedrooms, that we missed entirely what was happening in the oil-consuming world around us. Yes, while we're sitting in churches 2 or 3 days of the week, getting upset about our pastors raving about gays, abortionists and liberals, the rest of the world was more concerned about lifting itself out of Third World and actually improving the lives of its people. The Iraq war further distracted from solving the supposed immediate threat of Osama Bin Laden and Al Queada...Saddam Husseign who was no threat and kept Iran at bay is now dead, while Osama Bin Laden still lives and Iran is working to acquire nuclear weapons. Problem is, without a draft, there is no way we can hope to keep Iran in check, because we've squandered the goodwill of our allies in Iraq.

So yes, let the country attack Obama for criticizing whitebread America for its obsession over non-issues, while the most basic issues of our ultimate undoing continue to burn away the foundations of this country. Yay, go Hillary! You and Bill may get the White House again for another 4 years, but then may so McCain. You'll live in the lap of luxury, while the rest of us suffer for your ambition. Vote Obama, or live to regret it later...as surely as many of us predicted--and most accurately--what four more years of Bush would bring us.

  •  I grew up in Somerset PA (pop 6700) (5+ / 0-)

and Obama is right!  There is a reason why Pennsylvania has the third highest number of people over age 65, after Florida and Arizona.  All the young people leave to go to another state for better opportunities!

  •  The poll is confusing to me... (0+ / 0-)

Because Pennsylvania didn't vote for George Bush in 2000 or in 2004.

It sounds like you're from Western Pennsylvania.  The Eastern part of the state is doing just fine, thanks.

    •  Pennsylvania is also... (0+ / 0-)

the state that gave an idiot like Rick Santorum two terms in the Senate! 'Nuff said.

      •  Thank you (0+ / 0-)

I see that Pennsylvania is a very unpopular and despised state not only with Barack Obama but with this website as well.  Please continue hating on Penna. and New York and California and Mass. and all of the other states that are rejecting the vague promises of BHO.

Did not the state of Pennsylvania give Rick Santorum--the most extreme representative and number 3 in the Republican Party--a platform to spew his bullshit for two terms? That's not hate, sweetheart, that's history and fact. I have many friends in PA who say that between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, it's "Pennsyltucky!" Don't hate Obama for telling it like it is. If you're offended, then you obviously don't know your state!

          •  Now I'm offended (1+ / 0-)

Obviously your friends never realized there were over 10 mid-sized cities in Pennsylvania that make up a greater bulk of the population here than either Philadelphia or Pittsburgh.  The rural depressed areas of PA are no different than the corresponding parts of upstate NY, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, or any other state.

If you want to hate on PA because, like many states, it elected a Republican in the GOP wave of 1994 and then failed to find a viable candidate to oppose him in 2000, go right ahead.

I love how HRC got flayed here for her "insult 40 states strategy" and the same group who criticized that has no problem adopting the "hate Pennsylvania" strategy.

Gee, I wonder where people learned to hate Pennsylvania, perhaps from... Barack Obama?

        •  By the way.... don't think for a minute (0+ / 0-)

that your BHO (Barack Husseign Obama) bullshit, fear mongering little jab wasn't noticed! Douche!

          •  Whoa (0+ / 0-)

It's a lot easier to type HRC and BHO than their full names.  If you are embarrassed by your candidate's initials, well, I don't know what to tell you.

            •  Oh no, BPK (0+ / 0-)

YOU are evil.  YOU do not come here to worship. YOU don't see perfection.  YOU, how dare YOU, do not have a problem with a person's middle name.

But I am evil too.  I cannot believe how some, at this site, go nuts if you refuse to see mentioning certain names and religions as an attempt to evoke evil and play to hate.

I am not sure what this says about the people here when the mere using of a letter is a reason to accuse someone of evil.  If it wasn't so sad, so closed mined, the total opposite of being liberal, it might be funny when so called progressives get angry and perplexed at those of us who refuse to buy into right wing narratives.

First, they kept calling the remarks Obama's
"slam" on small town America.  Then their
commentators more or less called the remarks a fatal blow.

Bullshit.  Anyone who has seen his follow-up
can see that Barack has already begun to turn
    this around.

  •  Obama is not an elitist. (0+ / 0-)

And people who don't think so are just a bunch of rubes and hicks who pathetically cling to their guns, their religions, and the hatred of foreigners.  What a bunch of infantile losers!

  •  people can`t handle the truth (0+ / 0-)

The problem with Obama is he is not a good politician, he actually tells the truth and in this world you get slammed for it.
My guess he gets clobbered  by 20 points now in Pa. 40 in Kentucky and  W.V. He still wins N.C. and loses Indiana. Clinton will go to the convention and still lose after damaging Obama probably fatally and electing McCain.
Worked out well for her, now when if  loses she can say it was his own fault. If he can fix this mistake he really is superman.

  •  Treadmill introspection is what some people do (0+ / 0-)

when they have lost the high ground.  The Republicans have taken us as a nation to a dark place, but I have hope.  New, effective Democratic leadership can help us find our way back.

    comments in her speech!

She is going to figure out that Obama is right, the people ARE pissed off as hell, and she is going to try to say that people are even more bitter than Obama thinks!

This is a winner for Dems...I am thinking John Edwards' message!
