I Meta Man

Sun Apr 13, 2008 at 12:01:32 AM PDT

Alright folks some of you that know the UID are already wondering what does this asshole have to say this time. For those that don't understand that sentiment look through my history and you will figure out I am here to poke fingers in the eye.

It's my first Meta so be honored that you are allowed to read this and take it to heart because there are two things I do (a) I deposit smartass comments (b) call bullshit. This will involve both so if your sensibilities are offended by either now would be the time to exit this rant. Now for those who have already made up thier minds, don't be discouraged because I will be leaving a jar to deposit whatever gratuities you feel are deserved. All donations will be accepted and enjoyed, I assure you.

Elitist! See how easy that was? First thing that comes to mind is; no I'm not!

Well let me explain something that seems to have escaped all the brilliant minds engaged in this conversation. If you use the word "elitist", you are! All the people you are trying to convince hear the word "elitist" and instantly it's pavlovs' dog salivating. The very people being targeted by this stupid shit don't use the word. The only people who use the word are the fuckin "elitists".

Bitter! See that was easy too, right? We aint "bitter" we are pissed the fuck off.

You know how they labeled John Edwards as "angry", yeah remember that? It was fine, everything was cool because then Barack provided optimism and that is what people responded to they didn't want to be told the economy was destroying the fabric of society, that the governement and everyone involved was screwing over the "average joe" they needed "post partisanship" that was the ticket.

So here we are, now we see all these diaries telling us "I'm not an elitists"/"I'm bitter too". Diaries explaining the money this one or that one has, don't you understand it's not the amount of money anybody has that makes the "elite" it's the attitude. And let me tell you the attitude that is being displayed around here and has been for a long time is "elitist". How many times have you read, "well they wouldn't vote for him anyway", or "fuck those rednecks?" Ladies and gentlemen I hate to be the bearer of bad news but "those rednecks" that you are so eager to write off are the very reason there is a "chimp in charge" today.

Here is another little conundrum for you to figure out. We keep hearing that "the party has chosen", who's party? The base is split, whether people admit it or not the "party" is pretty close to split. Yes, Obama has the majority but is that enough to claim the prize? All these "new voters", the indies and the republic that have crossed over, aren't they just as likely to return to whence they came in November? So treating those that are supposed to be our base and "assuming" they will vote on our side is like a crap shoot at this point. Shouldn't we be almost begging and cajoling them to stay faithful to the cause? You want to see just the opposite? Read the comments in the diary at the top of the rec list tell me that is how we attract people back to the fold.

Obama made a dumb comment accept that he apologized, whether that will be enough who knows. Here is the thing he was at a fundraiser for people who donated alot of money, that is the definition of what some call "elite". Quit using the word, quit trying to prove that you are the "average joe", you aren't. The "average joe" is not expressing his opinions or venting his frustrations on "the tubes". Do you not think that those very jack-offs you keep railing against in the media are not paying attention and noticing this bullshit is still alive inside the tubes?

McBush is a nightmare but "assuming" that people will do the right thing is what has hurt us before, I don't want to take the chance that it won't again. So tell me something good about the man who will most likely be the Democratic nominee. I don't care about you or your credentials, I care about the world my grandkids will inherit after all this stupidity has passed.

Elitists is a state of mind.

  •  I read you're... (0+ / 0-)

...whole diary and you seem to be taking people to task for using the term elitist. You're argument goes to s&*t when you yourself call Obama elitist for attending a fundraiser. What's your point?

    •  My point is (0+ / 0-)

That the very people this is targeted at are not reading the stupid shit being posted here. My point is look at the demographics that everyone is so proud of, the educated, the affluent. To the people this argument is being put forward to that is "elitists", the mor people try and back away fromthat fact the mnor engrained it becomes.

My point is, I grew up around these people and the more it's denied the more unbelievable it becomes. Also the more it is discussed here, whether people realize it or not the nore the media will stay on it, it reinforces the fact they are hitting a nerve.

what I expected. No criticism allowed no matter how honest or straightforward. The very fact anyone may question the CW must be quashed.

"Our movement will be entirely destructive, and entirely constructive. We will not try to reform the existing institutions. We only intend to weaken them, and eventually destroy them.
"We will use guerrilla tactics to undermine the legitimacy of the dominant regime.

We will pick off the most intelligent and creative individuals in our society, the individuals who help give credibility to the current regime.

We must learn to treat leftists as natural disasters or rabid dogs.

One must give them dreams and ideals that have been put in terms they can understand, and that touch their hearts, as opposed to their rational minds. If we cannot capture the imaginations of our members, then we cannot expect our members to make great sacrifices for us.

College students must be a key audience for our movement, since they are free of excessive time commitments and they find themselves in an environment that (theoretically) encourages activism and exposure to new ideas.

We must reframe this struggle as a moral struggle, as a transcendent struggle, as a struggle between good and evil.
