2004 Obama video explains "bitter"

Everybody's shouting so loud about the San Francisco "bitter" sound-bite, I can't hear what anyone is saying! CONDESCENDING! ELITE! OUT-OF-TOUCH! I'M NOT BITTER!

So let's step back, take a deep breath, and talk quietly for a moment. Which is exactly what Charlie Rose did with Obama in 2004...when they discussed this exact issue.

  I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned more in the past few days. Although there are some flaws in some of the book's argumentation, it addresses a situation similar to that brought up by Obama. When the book came out, lots of liberals were excited. Now restating one of its central theses is elitist . . . ???

    and really thought it was insightful and had its finger on the pulse of a lot of currents in modern America. It deserves revisiting and a wider audience.

  Great that you found this. Clearly Obama was giving the soundbite version of this particular insight from his Illinois organizing experiences (and he's not a soundbite kinda guy, as we know) and because the nuance didn't make it onto the bootleg recording, he's being caricatured as a hater. Please see if you can get the Huffpo people to pick this up, so it can be linked to the article running there that helped to start the phony controversy. That way, when people go looking for the audio of his SF presentation, this fuller analysis of the subject will be there as well.
