Hillary: They're not bitter-they're just drunk

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 01:01:30 PM PDT

Give her credit, when Hillary does a stereotype she does it all the way.

You might have thought Hillary was channelling Fred Thompson this weekend, as the True Voice of the Conservative this weekend, what with her  fond reminiscences of her Pappy teachin' her to shoot and all the time she spent in her (non specified) Church. Of course , she might have come across as a tech less than genuine when she hurriedly declared questions about her shootin and prayin' activities "Not relevant" to the campaign when reporters asked for specifics.)

Still, never one to under-pander, Hillary must have been thinking "how else do these plebi-er regular people amuse themselves?"  "Oh right. they Drink themselves blind" and thus:

I give you Hillary doing boilermakers

As they used to say at Uncle Fester's Funeral Home   "My, don't she look Natch-ural?"

So as long as we're taking things out of context and making mountains out of Molehills can I scream that Hillary's actions imply that she regards middle Americans as a bunch of alcoholic  junk food eaters?   I mean, it seems about as fair as what she's said about Obama.

But seriously, folks,  Holy Cow!   Does she really think she's fooling anyone?  How the hell isn't Hillary's pathetically transparent embrace of the "God and guns" Redneck stereotype not 100 times more offensive than Obama's efforts to call it as he sees it? (and the next time somebody talks about the hopelessness and despair inthe inner city can we expect her to be sippin’  "gin  and juice" with her homies from the Eastside Crips?  Or is it only RURAL poor people who are such shining examples of rectitude and strength of character?)

Which is more offensive? Telling people the truth as you see it, even if it is less than complimentary? Or thinking they're stupid enough to fall for as transparent a pander as Hillary is attempting?

And what makes an upper middle class-raised Yalie think she can successfully pass herself off  as a "Good 'ol Girl" ?  (Well, perhaps because that OTHER politician  pulled it off with the MSM's help.  You know the one,...hmmm.. It's on the tip of my tongue...tall guy, speaks with a phony Texas accent, has a phony "ranch",  had a disastrous presidency...dang...it'll come to me).

But aside from the sheer ridiculousness of the assertion, how does Hillary  think any of this promotes herself as the Democratic Standard Bearer,  the voice of our party and ideals?  Let's try a little test.  Which one of these attacks on Obama came from his democratic rival and which from his Republican opponent :

Candidate #1

I  was raised with ... values and an unshakeable faith in America and its promise," ... "Sen. Obama’s remarks are elitist and they are out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans. Certainly not the Americans that I know
.."People embrace faith not because they are materially poor, but because they are spiritually rich,"..."People of all walks of life hunt – and they enjoy doing so because it’s an important part of their life, not because they are bitter,"  ..
"Because I believe if you want to be the president of all Americans, you need to respect all Americans, And that starts with respecting our hard-working Americans."

candidate #2

I think those comments are elitist,"...I think that anybody who disparages people, who are hardworking, honest, dedicated people who have cherished the second amendment and the right to hunt and the right to observe that and their values and their culture that they value and they've grown up with and sometimes in the case of generations and saying that's because they're unhappy with their economic conditions, I think that's a fundamental contradiction of what I believe America's all about,

(Yes, friends, this is what the Silly Season has come to:  the Woman who made $50 million last year;  and the son of an Admiral who knew he was  destined for (the US naval Academy at) Annapolis" from slightly after he was able to walk accusing the son of single mother of being an "out of touch elitist")

So did you guess correctly?  Was it harder than you'd thought it would be?

Shouldn't that chill you just a bit?  It seems in her desperation to re-invent herself in order to win the nomination; Hillary has morphed into something   that every Democratic voter should find unacceptable:  just another Republican Candidate.
