Clinton attack ad runs for free on MSNBC.com

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 07:00:08 PM PDT

I'm gonna keep this real short and sweet.

I think we all know that ads like this get shown on pundit shows essentially for 'free' so people watching have a reference for it as they discuss it.  However right now on MSNBC.com Hillary's ad is in their video player, in full, without any commentary, critique, any point of reference whatsoever.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...

That is outrageous. It's time to get in MSNBC's face for this and let them know that this is free advertising for the Clinton campaign in the purest, most literal sense.  Running her attack ad without context gives either tacit endorsement or the impression that the space has been paid for, when I think we can safely say, it has not been.

Get moving. Raise Hell.

  •  MSN NBC always shills for Clinton (6+ / 0-)

It's a given fact how biased they are towards Clinton.

    •  Free advertising isn't keeping her from (5+ / 0-)

      Bombing in her speeches.

Hillary Clinton was forced to cut her normal stump speech short when a chatty and meddlesome crowd kept her from grasping their attention. Clinton, who was addressing the Philadelphia County Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, spoke for just over five minutes, despite having the press arrive almost two hours beforehand.

The crowd never settled down during her remarks. A spokesman for Clinton denied that she cut the speech short, and told reporters that Clinton was advised by her Pennsylvania team to deliver "a short speech" given the set up of the event.

Matthews is pretty upfront about his dislike of Hillary and Keith is pretty obvious who he favors.
I agree, all the gop shills like Scarborough and Buchanan love Clinton  because they don`t want to face Obama.
Gregory seems to be anti-Obama but he is turning into a Russett clone.I would say CNN is more pro Hillary than MSNBC.

    •  this sounds like an in-kind contribution (0+ / 0-)

bias is one thing, but directly providing goods and services to one candidate counts as a campaign contribution.

anyone up for filing an FEC complaint?  at least it will make them think twice before pulling this crap again.

  •  Our media has never been more (10+ / 0-)

full of propaganda than it is in the 21st Century.

  •  The ad itself is so dishonest! (0+ / 0-)

Notice the backgrounds where the participants are speaking? Am I suspecting that this was not simultaneous but staged by a group of carefully-selected Clinton supporters?

  •  Just more fair journalism from the MCM. (0+ / 0-)

    Would we expect anything less?

The definition of insanity is voting the same way and expecting a different result. I'm talking to you FL,OH, KY, WV!

  •  Don't get too excited. (0+ / 0-)

MSNBC is our network, and Keith is our mouthpiece.  Everyone understands that this crumb thrown to Hillary is just to give an appearance of objectivity and openness.  If it had any real threat to Barack Obama, it wouldn't be on MSNBC.

Besides, Keith can tear her apart using this ad and his viewers will understand the allusion.  A win-win.

The media can go suck on it when Obama wins despite their fascination with sensationalized politics.

  •  Media Abdicates Responsibility (2+ / 0-)

The media was complicit with the Bush Administration in the run up to the war. They did not perform journalism. They were stenographers for the administration simply repeating what they were told instead of doing critical analysis.

They did it again during our last election. Because they weren't critical of Bush and the war we got Bush again. They gave hundreds of thousands of dollars in free air time to the Swiftboat Veterans. Too bad it doesn't count as a campaign contribution.

Now they're at it again. Instead of focusing on real issues, instead of investigating Bill Clinton's millions in earnings and contributions to his library and foundation to determine if they are any conflicts, we get Rev Wright, the "bitter" comments over and over again.

Instead of letting the public know about McCain and his possible legal problems with campaign financing, they focus on the nonissues.

Most people aren't into the issues like people who haunt sites like DailyKos, HuffPost, Politico, etc. Most don't even read the news. They get their news in the sound bites.

If we end up with McCain or Hillary next year, the media will be complicit in that too because they abdicate their responsibility to do critical analysis of issues and inform the public.

You know we all need to realize that the enemy is the media. Yeah, there are lot's of enemies but seriously the MSM is run by a handful of corporations!

Thanks to Bill Clinton we have huge corporations with contracts in defense etc. running the media. They WILL always lift up the worst candidate. For them that person might be evil, unstable, war mongering and an idiot, but the candidate doesn't look the same to them as they do to us. Why? This is how they see them $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!

    There's your fucking media!

When was the last time you seen an average American on t.v talking about the issues? We have been reduced to polls! Instead we are treated to a bunch of loons spreading propaganda.

Our voices have been shut out, this has been going on since the hippie movement. Corporations, politicians and the corporate media play us.

Olbermann is the man, but sadly he is there for their ratings and they only have him there to please us. Not that he's not valid, he's the man!

If they had their way he or anyone like him would NOT be there!

We should be waging a huge war against the media, we should start NOW! We've seen these assholes in action, they think we are out of touch! They HELPED elect Bush and never went NUTS like this bullshit elitist thing over very, very, very questionable elections! The same can be said over the Iraq Invasion.

Honestly if this Obama "bittergate" was in reverse I'd be just as pissed as I am now. AND I consider her to be as bad as BUSH! Let me explain that, she endorsed McCain, she is attacking one of our own in a very disingenuous way. I could go on an on. I see her as bad a Bush period.

    THE MEDIA IS THE ENEMY!

If America were to die and an autopsy was to be performed the media would be the cause of death.
