McCain gets donuts, Obama labelled terrorist by media !!

Tue Apr 15, 2008 at 08:39:55 AM PDT

Liberal media indeed !!

Interesting take on the liberal media (dare I say elite) by Dana Milbank (who more often than not has been offering some traces of media sanity)

For Obama and McCain, the Bitter and the Sweet

and goes on to elaborate

John McCain and Barack Obama both appeared before the nation's newspaper editors yesterday. The putative Republican presidential nominee was given a box of doughnuts and a standing ovation. The likely Democratic nominee was likened to a terrorist.

further elaboration

McCain's moderators, the AP's Ron Fournier and Liz Sidoti, greeted McCain with a box of Dunkin' Donuts. "We spend quite a bit of time with you on the back of the Straight Talk Express asking you questions, and what we've decided to do today was invite everyone else along on the ride," Sidoti explained. "We even brought you your favorite treat."

McCain opened the offering. "Oh, yes, with sprinkles!" he said.

Yup .. same Ron Fournier who called Obama arrogant !!

Milbank goes on to further elaborate ..

At a luncheon for the editors hosted by the Associated Press, AP Chairman Dean Singleton quizzed Obama about whether he would send more troops to Afghanistan, where "Obama bin Laden is still at large?"

"I think that was Osama bin Laden," the candidate answered.

"If I did that, I'm so sorry!" Singleton said.

"This," Obama told the editors, is "part of the exercise that I've been going through over the last 15 months."

Especially since he compared Obama to "a thief in the night".  Really the only people I see using messianic language are journalist and some Clinton surrogates (sometimes even HRC).

I don't think it's a media conspiracy exactly, but there's a bandwagon effect.  Many working in the media seem to be like lemmings and copy each other out of laziness, more than anything.  It's too easy to let the likes of Drudge set the agenda.  I'd rather see more independent thinking -- but I won't hold my breath.

The pro-zionist MSM is still unsure about Obama, but they know for sure that McCain and Hillary will be Israel's President in Washington.

but Obama has stated his intentions to maintain the US alliance with Israel.

Will he make it a more constructive alliance than it currently is? I don't know, ask him - and even he might not know, of course.

Anyhow. There's an interesting paper by a guy named Lee Jussim about this kind of rhetoric, in press with a major journal of psychology. I look forward to reading it.

It appears that he's amazed by the double standard.  I don't know if it's bc these media guys are bigots or what, but I've never seen such a double standard b4.

Well strike that, I have.  I just didn't think it would carry over to the presidential race.  You know what I'm talking about.  When a white person goes missing it's news, when a minority goes missing you can hear crickets.  That's what I'll call institutionalized bigotry.  Obama becoming president ruins the media's meme on AA's.

I heard that editors of the AP, Ron Fournier and Liz Sidoti, greeted Sen. McCain with a box of Dunkin' Donuts. "We spend quite a bit of time with you on the back of the Straight Talk Express asking you questions, and what we've decided to do today was invite everyone else along on the ride," Sidoti explained. "We even brought you your favorite treat."  Wasn't that sweet of them?

Meanwhile, AP Chairman Dean Singleton asked Sen. Obama whether he would send more troops to Afghanistan, where "Obama bin Laden is still at large?"  Obama bin Laden, huh?  That's quite the Freudian slip there.  Somehow, I never seem to make that kind of mistake.

It's unfortunate that the AP continues to treat McCain with such obvious positive bias, while repeating talking points of the far right-wing when speaking to Obama.  I bet he didn't get a box of Donuts.

Might I remind your hypocritical organization of your own code of ethics:

"That means we abhor inaccuracies, carelessness, bias or distortions. It means we will not knowingly introduce false information into material intended for publication or broadcast; nor will we alter photo or image content. Quotations must be accurate, and precise."

Beyond the obvious bias, Singleton's "slip" of the tongue was extremely "careless" as stated in your own code of ethics. Meanwhile, McCain, the man who claims to have tons of Foreign Policy experience, has trouble distinguishing between Shia and Sunni Muslims and which of the two populate al Qaeda and yet it is barely reported in your news articles or is inaccurately reported when it is. I suggest you take a hard look at the obvious bias of your reporters and editors.   Isn't it about time you started living up your code of ethics.
