Obama's Lapel Flag Pin RETURNS! (Update)

(Update:  I had to delete my previous diary for I can't get the correct video for the elitist response)

I always thought this discussion of whether Obama was patriotic or not because he doesn't wear a flag pin was REALLY RIDICULOUS.  However, I always that Obama could take that stupid talking point away from the GOP if he did decide to wear a flag pin.  Well apparently Obama is!

According to Ben Smith's blog, Obama was given this flag pin at this event in which he gave a speech to veterans today.  It was given to him by a disabled veteran.

I wonder if he will keep wearing it.  I say why not.  It probably means A LOT to Obama that a disabled veteran has given him this pin.

But now, you have Robert Johnson of BET bringing it back up today in the Charlotte Observer. I don't know why no one has diaried this yet, since it's the Geraldine thing again.

    The elitist smear has been used against dems for a looonnngggg time. This is hardly new. Gore, Kerry, and on back. Its always pulled out.

    There's been a lot of racially charged crap this campaign (plenty from Clinton's campaign), but I don't think the elite smear qualifies.

  how this dust up has impacted you as an African American, I was looking at FAUX news this afternoon while I was waiting for my car to be repaired and they showed that Obama's support among AA has gone up from the high 70's% (I think it was 76%, but can't remember exactly as it was scrolling on the ticker at the bottom of the screen) to something like 88% since this whole 'elitist' stuff came up.  It definitely has helped him among the AA crowd in PA.

  Obama did misspeak. Last night on Charlie Rose was an interview BHO did in 04, where he describes in detail how people seek an "outlet" for their frustrations.
  Church and guns. It showed 2 years ago how he felt Government had failed people in the Midwest and they return to their roots, places that give them comfort to handle the loss they feel.

  I hope someone with right skills can into the http://www.charlierose.com/... web site and extract the video and post it. It's about 15 minutes into it, right after the interview with Bob Casey.

  MSNBC showed his speech before the town hall began & I noticed the pin right away.  I assumed that was the case, someone there had given it to him.  I was surprised that no one at MSNBC pounced on it, but they didn't, at least not yet.
