Tone Deaf Clinton Supporters

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 09:10:58 PM PDT

As offended as we are, Clinton supporter appear to have loved this debate.  Over at Talk Left:

BTD - The biggest joke of the night is to watch Keith Olbermann of NBC say this debate was some travesty, which it was, as if NBC did not run the most offensive, most ridiculous, most unfair debates ever held. There is no doubt that the ABC debate tonight was horrendous and extremely unfair to Obama. There is no doubt that NBC's debates were all worse. How dare Olbermann critique ANY debate? Have you no decency sir, at long last? The answer? No. Keith Olbermann is the most shameless ridiculous hack on TV.

At Mydd.com:

Reviews are in and Hillary rocked in tonight's debate.  We'll get to those after the jump.  But first, Hillary's camp put up a video on YouTube of a clip from Channel 6 news in Philadelphia.  Take a look - Hillary was the overwhelming choice among WPVI's focus group of undecided Democrats.

Do these Democrats really not realize how damaging this debate was to the Democratic party?

As for Hillary herself, she says:

And so this is a legitimate area, as everything is when we run for office, for people to be exploring and trying to find answers.

This debate was all about Right Wing framing. And by calling it legitimate, Hillary has made every question about he husbands pardons and speeches, every question about about friends and neighbors is Arkansas, every statement in every book fair game for the Main Stream Media and Republicans to use during the final election.

Clinton and her supporters are guaranteeing we will have a campaign devoid of substance, a campaign tailor made to deliver McCain the presidency.

I'm stunned that anyone could watch tonight's debate and think it was a good thing for either candidate, or the party, or the country.

NBC's read seems right.

Could tonight's true winner be John McCain? We're betting that's the unanimous pundit scoring tonight.

UPDATE:
The comments get worse. From mydd, rated highly.

Fantastic job by ABC (5.00 / 5) (#7)

This is how a debate is supposed to be conducted. HUGE props to ABC for showing CNN and MSNBC how it's done.
They hit both candidates hard, and did no fawning.

Why can't a Democratic debate be moderated by a Democrat? Anyone know the answer to that?

He just said that the NBC debatews were worse.

I had a class so I left after the idiotic flag pin question. Looks like I was lucky.

Because another debate had been unfair to Clinton. The whole tone of that post, not just the quote, seemed celebratory to me.

      •  besides this debate (0+ / 0-)

i would like to know when another candidate had to defend his patriotism and values during a debate because of (i) his failure to literally wrap himself up in an american flag, (ii) the views of his neighbors and pastor, and (iii) elitism.  hillary has never had to go through that.  i would liken that to an hour of questions during a debate about her responses to accusations of bill's infidelities.

This is what news/debate is supposed to be. Present the tough facts, let candidates answer, then hold them to what they said. I thought they did it to both pretty equally. It just looked like they slammed Obama because he couldn't stand up. So it looked bad for him.

It is HILARIOUS that the media, new and old, is in such an uproar over the fact that Obama finally received some long-overdue scrutiny.
We need some adults to tell these "journalists" to stop coddling The Precious.

During the debate Hillary spoke most directly to her willingness to commit the US to the use of nuclear weapons to attack Iran and to expand our responsibilities to the defense of Israel or other Arab states.

Her vote in favor of the invasion of Iraq and in favor of K/L were no mistakes.

her answer to the Iran/Israel question was right out of the PNAC playbook -- "massive retaliation" was bad enough

but then she goes on with "umbrella of influence" over the middle east

any doubts about her NEOCON leanings should be right out the window after this
