In L.A.? Come protest ABC TOMORROW (Friday)

If you're anything like me, you're appalled by last night's debacle--I mean, debate--on ABC that featured such all-important issues as William Ayers' actions when Barack Obama was 8 years old, how much he loves flag pins, and all other sorts of sensationalistic drama for close to a full hour before actually touching on any issue of substance.

And if, you're like me, you'd like to show ABC just how much you disapprove of their shoddy yellow-journalism tabloid-style coverage of our Presidential race.

Well, you have a chance to do something about it: We're going to stage a protest at ABC's headquarters in Burbank this Friday starting at 4:00pm.

This protest is being organized by our good friends at the Courage Campaign, as well as me and my friend and fellow Calitics frontpager dday, who is also a very prominent member of this community:

"Join Courage Campaign and your fellow activists at the Disney Studios in Burbank in front of the West Alameda Gate, between S. Buena Vista and Keystone Streets."

Once again, the protest will start at 4.  We'll have some signs there, but you're definitely encouraged to design and bring your own!

we'll be there offering flag lapel pins to Disney executives as they leave their offices.  Otherwise, they won't be real Americans according to their network news anchor!

  Sorry, but I don't see the point of this. The point of a protest is to get media attention and the media isn't going to self-critique. Hit them where they live. Protest their advertisers.

      position to work from. I guess I just don't see the point of protesting the media. Last night's debate devolved from Clinton/Obama to media/viewer. We lost and Gibson won. I'd rather make the case that we should just tell them to fuck off and that they are irrelevant than reinforce their sense of power by asking them to change. I'd just as soon they dry up and blow away - corporate media is too far gone from objective to be reeled back. Let them turn ABC News into another offering of Big Brother.

      Please don't play it as an attack on Obama, though. It was an attack on the voters. Snipergate questions are just as abhorrent as Ayers ones.

    Hillary got a couple of doses of it too at the ABC debate, on subjects that have been dealt with exhaustively.

•  Not surprised by their tactics

  Nothing surprises me about Disney.  KABC, a radio station in Los Angeles, has been preaching hate for some time.  I attended 2 FCC hearings in Los Angeles and listened to 10-15 or more people testify to the race baiting and racially inflammatory statements of KABC that lead to bomb threats at a school.

  Students, teachers, and administrators testified at the hearing.
