Just for Fun are u Bitter? w/poll

Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 06:37:32 PM PDT

I admit it, he just capped it for me. Even though I do not live in PA, I do feel bitter. Maybe it's a West Coast thingy after all he was talking to a left coast crowd. Yes. the Bush Years have left me bitter and with an awful taste in my mouth. I grew up in the 50 and 60 and I do not recognize my country. I do not believe the John Wayne, I watched in all those Movies would either.

Why exactly might I be bitter? Where do I start? How about $3 Trillion wasted, a 100,000 to millions of deaths inflicted needlessly, I may never have enough $ to retire, If I loose my job and can't find a job, it's BK and foreclosure, 8 years of BushCo pumping up our Carbon emissions - Global Warming is the real threat!, what of our manufacturing jobs, the debt crisis, the tent cities emerging on the out skirts of our Cities, food riots because food is being diverted to fuel, the Arctic is melting, Antarctica too, the war on our own people - opps I mean the drug war, the prison/industrial complex, the true media elites, Hill's plundering of Obama, the military/industrial complex, the dumbing down of our schools China's and India's Industrialization and millions of cars and their emissions, Vietnam, Darfur the Holocaust, the transfer of our Industries overseas and the hollowing out of the Middle Class

Please add your own list in the comment section or not.

then in your future you will cling to:

    1. guns
    1. religion
    1. antipathy to people who aren't like you
    1. anti-immigrant sentiment
    1. anti-trade sentiment

    As Obama said:

And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

And that we haven't started impeachment proceedings for this dammned bunch of douchebags. It makes me so angry that getting a blowjob gets you censured but fucking the country - and the troops - doesn't. WTF??!!

    1. I do not drive. This has KILLED my dating opportunities. It's not like I can't afford to drive---I made $41k last year. I just don't want to for economic and environmental reasons.
    1. The only reason why I stay with my current employer (a state agency under Ed Rendell's jurisdiction) is for health care. If I had my way, I'd be self employed. I'm bitter about that.
    1. NAFTA killed a vibrant and economically diverse community here. The only industry here is government and all its secondary, tertiary and quaternary industries. And Walmart.
    1. I can't marry any eventual partner that I might find (see #1: doubtful) in most states in this country. In fact my state is currently trying to enshrine it in the state constitution---one man, one woman.

    So yeah, I'm FUCKING bitter.

I am truly bittersweet ( just like I like my chocolate). I have a great life, and by most standards of measurement, have no reason to complain. I'm blessed with a good job, income, loving husband, healthy and respectful son, supportive extended family, home, material comforts, education, health insurance, don't fear for my personal safety on a daily basis as a person, a woman, or a black person in this country.

I was blessed with two parents who provided me a stable home, and care, and an education, and taught me the value of working hard to achieve my goals. And I love my country and despite the scars on its back and the sins of its birth, its ideals and the premise on which it was founded and the promise of what it can be if we compel it.

So I should be on a chocolate induced sugar high and have absolutely nothing to be bitter about right? But I am. I am bitter because I know that while I am the living product of the concept of the "American Dream", that dream is eluding more Americans than ever before.

I'm bitter because a few myopic and power hungry, and truly elite and elitist people have squandered our collective national treasures...treasures borne on the backs of Americans who may never realize "the dream", on this senseless war.

I'm bitter because the condition of the public school where I've mentored students is so very different from the condition of the public school my son attends in a different, but not distant, city.

I'm bitter because of the ever increasing concentration of financial and political power in fewer hands who through fear, manipulate others to vote against their own self interests, using wedge issue promises they have no intent of ever keeping.

I want the promise of what we can be and the dream back and I won't stop being bitter despite my own personal successes, until we knock this shit off.

    Everything you mentioned plus...

    Torture in my name

Thousands stranded with no food, water or medicine for five days in New Orleans

The f*cking leader of the Free World, the most powerful military on Earth still says "nucular"

Billions for JP Morgan, pennies for the poor

Trillion dollar tax cuts for Wall Street, and a government bailout to boot

Four dollars for a gallon of gasoline, and it's not because we taxed it to pay for public transit

Dead salmon fishery in California and Oregon

Osama bin Laden still free, and Dick Cheney for that matter

Even Barack has to change his tune about talking with our enemies when it comes to Hamas

Hillary won't stop yelling at us about why she'd more qualified to be President

My taxes pay for John Yoo's salary

My student loans still aren't paid off, even though I've been paying on them forever

I can't quit my job because I might get sick and who can afford private health insurance if you're not perfectly healthy?
