I Have Primary Fatigue

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 09:26:09 AM PDT

I'm a guy who has been addicted to cable news and the 24 hour news cycle since the day CNN went on the air in 1980. I've watched at a minimum, 1 hour of cable news every day for the past quarter century. Most days it's about three hours or more.

The past two weeks, my consumption of cable news has dropped dramatically. Last night, I only occasionally flipped to MSRNC for updates on what was happening.

As of today, I'm not watching any news, cable or otherwise, until I look for some updates on May 3, then May 6, then May 20.

The truth of the matter is, I'm sick of Hillary and I'm sick of the Primary. I'm not going to pay a lot of attention to the garbage from here on. As far as I'm concerned, Obama has already won the primaries and what we have now is nothing buut media generated nonsense.

I'm on the DNC mailing list and every time they ask me for money, I reply back that I will not donate until there is a definite nominee. So long as that nominee is the candidate who has already won, I'll donate.

If not, then I won't be spending another penny on this thing. Not one thin dime for any candidates because as far as I'm concerned, if the candidate who has already won is not the nominee, there is no reason to ever trust the Democratic Party again. There is no reason to donate any money to them any more under those circumstances. There would be no way I could try to convince anybody else to vote for a Democrat either, under those circumstances.

Will I vote come November under those circumstances? I'm not sure, but if I do it would only be a protest vote against the GOP. And if the person who already has won is not the nominee, I'll have to think about whether or not there really is any point any longer.

My 2 cents on this at this time, any way.

Some pundint's ask disingenuously, Why Can't Barack Close the Deal?  The TRUTH OF THE MATTER, is that Barack is fighting TWO opponents, Clinton & the Republican Machine: Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan, Fox News and they fight a lot dirtier, louder, harder than "light"!  They fight with lies, distortions, brain wash and money.  Barack is doing something new and necessary, though slower because a loud voice gets a lot more attention than a sane, compassionate, low-speaking one, like Barack's.  That is why he is having such a hard time.  Look at the unevenness and unfairness of the last debate?  The new Republican's and Clinton's talking point is why cannot Barack put it away.  The answer is he is fighting a three-headed Giant, the Clintons and the Republican Machine -- it is a Giant compared to Barack and the assault goes on 24/7 starting with Morning Joe and continuing all day with Fox News!  Then there are the new swift-boat TV adds and false emails, he is being blanketed with -- and then they smile to themselves and ask smugly, "Why can't he put her away?  Knowing the dark answer to this question and the dark seed they hope to plant into the minds of the people who are unable to think for themselves and are influenced by fear and ignorance.  But humanity's heart is opening to the light and the energy of goodwill.  May be this time, we can overcome these awful forces of destruction to mankind, may be this time.

(For the record, I too, have turned off Morning Joe and the Pat Buchanans, I will not listen to their ugly garbage.)

Don't watch TV, it only compounds the stress.

    •  I'll watch TeeVee (0+ / 0-)

I can't miss Sunday's episode of The Tudors on Showtime.

And I love the History Channel, the Science Channel, etc.

      Just no news. ;-)

I'll depend upon liberal blogs for my news until this thing is over.

And it's been great. I haven't seen that smug smile on HRC's face at all and I've been all the better for it. I totally feel exactly as you do. I'm a newsjunkie that has watched for years, but I find I'm much happier selecting HOW I get my news now. I come here. People with better nerves and with more energy than I tune in the the MSM and report here any concerns and issues I need to address. And while I won't donate to the DNC, I'll still donate to Obama. But today, for example, I'm "working from home," which usually meant I'd have CNN or MSNBC as I sat at the computer. Not today, and probably not until May 6. I just don't have the stomach for it anymore and I really am just SICK OF IT. (As an aside, this site could really use emoticons, because I'd insert the one that looks like it's about to barf right about now!)
