The Reason White Women will Vote Against John McCain

Hillary is hanging on primarily because she performs strongly with her core base, which is plainly larger than Obama's core base, in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania. White Women were 47% of the Vote last night, and while Obama did marginally better in this group, it's likely also this group which claims in surveys and exit polls that they'll either stay home or vote McCain in November is Hillary is not in the race.  They resent the fact that the Woman many be losing, no doubt.  However, they'll vote, oh yes, they will definitely vote... here's why.

Meet Carol McCain.  The Woman John McCain left for Dead through Divorce to marry a younger, richer, more beautiful woman named Cindy.  This little story will help White Women to absorb the defeat and remind them why John McCain is simply detestable.

While he was imprisoned, Carol was in an auto wreck (1969), thrown through her car's windshield and left seriously injured. Despite her injures, she refused to allow her POW husband to be notified about her condition, fearing that such news would not be good for him while he was being held prisoner.

When McCain returned to the United States in 1973 after more than five years as a prisoner of war, he found his wife was a different person. The accident "left her 4 inches shorter and on crutches, and she had gained a good deal of weight."

What a superficial assessment by the potential future commander in Chief.

In his book, The Nightingale's Song, Robert Timberg chronicled McCain's post-Vietnam military assignments and some of his "adulterous" behavior leading to his divorce from Carol and marriage to Cindy Hensley.

While Executive Officer and later as Squadron Commander McCain used his authority to arrange frequent flights that allowed him to carouse with subordinates and "engage in extra-marital affairs."  Such behavior was a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice rules against adultery and fraternization with subordinates..

Abuse of Power to Break the Rules and Cheat on his Crippled Wife.

In 1979 at a military reception in Honolulu, McCain met Cindy Hensley, an attractive 25-year-old woman from a very wealthy politically-connected Arizona family. McCain described their first meeting, "She was lovely, intelligent and charming, 17 years my junior but poised and confident. I monopolized her attention the entire time, taking care to prevent anyone else from intruding on our conversation. When it came time to leave the party, I persuaded her to join me for drinks at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. By the evening's end, I was in love."

While still married to Carol, McCain began an adulterous relationship with Cindy. He married Cindy in May 1980 -- just a month after dumping Carol and securing a divorce. The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii.

White Women will not feel compelled to vote against the Democrat, for a GOP Supreme Court, Anti-Choice judges, and for an adulterous rule breaker like John McCain...

Have no fear, whatever happens, Obama will not have a White Women problem come the fall thanks to John & Cindy McCain.

    now. You're going to need something a little more recent than that to horrify people.

    This is a crappy approach to attacking McCain. When people have tragedies in their lives, like a crippling accident, or being a POW for godsake, they do change. More than height and weight changes. It OFTEN stresses marraiges. It sometimes ends marriages.  This can be tragic for one or both of those involved but really not a good cause for moralistic gloating 30 years later.

    This whole idea that his divorce is what will make older white women turn on McCain strikes me as patronizing and out of touch.

    First, Obama's supporters should follow his lead and oppose Hillary without demonizing her.

    THen talk to white women about the economy and the war.  Women are consistently more anti-war than men, and we're talking about a war almost nobody can stand.

    Talk to women about health care and education. And the economy. Did I mention the economy?

    Get some women as surrogates for Obama, for Chrissake, including women over 50, ie women who grew up before the feminist movement took hold, who understand that older women consistently want three things: to end the war, to make sure their families are taken care of, and to see some RESPECT shown to themselves and to women of accomplishment.

  I do think that Hillary Clinton has to, even if she's lying through her teeth, convincingly endorse Obama and tell her supporters to vote for him--that will help more than anything. But yeah, it doesn't hurt that McCain seems like something of a jerk (to put it mildly) in his dealings with women.

    He displays contempt for women, and the pretty lil' lobbyist was/is a clone of Cindy.

    Using the "C" word in re Cindy, tells us alot.

    If the first Miz McCain was a model, we can safely assume she was very attractive -- a prerequisite, obviously!

    His student days also described as full of hellraising 'n rule-breaking, IIRC.

    I'd guess women are just so much eye-candy, not much valued at any deep level. Moral issues not as upsetting -- from my personal perspective, as is the hypocrisy.  WTF is it with these Repukes and the hypocrisy?!

  i'm really not worried about the dem infighting and polls saying hillary supporters will not support Obama.  You cannot compare Obama and McCain.  Obama, young, vital and clearly in love with his wife.  McCain, old, grumpy, trophy wife marrying cheater.  

  The press is going easy on McCain now since the juicy story is Clinton/Obama.  Just wait until the Press starts going after McCain.  And they will, simply because it is easier to report stuff like this then report their policy positions.

    I'm sure this is off topic, but NYT ran a big piece on Donald Diamond yesterday. He used McCain's influence to turn a 20 million profit by buying and then selling just two years later land that belonged to an Army base decomissioned. Link.

  a lot of people (not just white women) will not vote for McCain because of his adulterous past, but not in the numbers you think. Several presidents have done well with women voters despite the knowledge that they had adulterous affairs. FDR, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and especially Clinton rode into the White House on the votes of women.
