Knock knock! Who's here?

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 12:14:58 PM PDT

I'm really curious what has happened to the Daily Kos readership over the course of primary season. It's pretty clear that we tipped over to Obama's side pretty heavily, and then there was the "strike". So I was just wondering who's still here -- is it all Obama all the time? Are there Hillary lurkers? How many people are sick of primary season -- and of those, who's still here posting on non-primary topics and who has left?

Legal scholar Cass Sunstein had an argument about how the internet is harmful to open debate because it fractures us into multiple non-interacting camps that make people's opinions more extreme. I don't necessarily agree with the claims he makes, but I wonder whether the dynamics of Daily Kos over the past few months support his point of view?

I'm 99% sure we're going to reconcile swiftly after we select a candidate -- my guess is sometime in June. The Daily Kos will go back to normal -- or at least normal for whatever happens during the final few months of a presidential election season.

Apologies if the poll directs you to unappealing options -- please fill in the blanks in the comments. Thanks!

    •  I've been here since the beginning, and (0+ / 0-)

support Obama with great zeal.  I had nothing against Hillary Clinton (in fact I stuck up for them through Whitewater, through impeachment, etc.) until she went negative in the primaries.

She lost me cold after that.

But of course, being a good Democrat, I would vote for her in the general if it were Clinton up against McCain. I hope it doesn't come to that.

  •  Sorry I couldn't vote twice (0+ / 0-)

The first two choices in your poll are not mutually exclusive, you know. (violation of Polling 101)

  •  You neglected the category of "hold your nose (0+ / 0-)

but reluctantly vote for Hillary", if, God forbid, it's required to beat McCain.

  •  I support Obama (0+ / 0-)

I will actively campaign for the Democratic nominee.

I do not hate the Clintons.  I will not have to hold my nose to vote for Hillary if she gets the nod.

But I often do not bother to even post a comment because of the overwhelming responses in the past.  People like me not bothering to comment make the community seem more one sided than it is, I think.

  •  I will vote for either of them. (0+ / 0-)

I detest the negative campaigning, whoever does it.

As much of a 'lightweight' comment this is I would love to see a combined ticket. By lightweight I mean, I can't write detailed analysis of each candidate and each campaign. I understand it, but my writing skills suck.
