Disregard This Diary

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 09:17:46 AM PDT

Please do not respond to this diary.  I am posting it again (Previous title:  The Saga Continues) because I wanted to send the link to someone and I wanted to have the scanned letters in the body.  I had to edit the diary and the only way to save it was to publish it again.  Hopefully it will scroll off the diary list soon enough.  I hope this makes sense.  (I finally figured out how to imbed a jpg.

The old stuff:

After getting pummeled yesterday  by so many of you for not revealing the name of the man who sent the inflammatory letters, (See Clintonistas Target Delegates Final IV),  I decided to follow up with this diary.  I did end up revealing his name, even though I was reluctant for reasons I stated  before.  I continue to stand by my outrage at the incendiary tone of his words, but it is not my intention to ruin his reputation and entire life's work.

I certainly understand your demands to reveal the name of this retired and respected professor; and after much soul searching I came to the conclusion that there was really nothing ethically wrong with exposing Dr. Curtis Ramsey's identity.   I will take responsibility for the repercussions in my close knit community,  just as Dr. Ramsey needs to take responsibility for his error in judgement.

It is my belief that he made a monumental mistake and exercised poor judgement by sending out these letters to Obama supporters.  I believe he got caught up in the hysteria of Clinton desperation that I'm seeing with many Clinton delegates.  They are so worried that their candidate is going to lose, they are frantically trying every possible means to prevent that from occurring.  This has  rendered normally nice folks suspicious and uncharacteristically unwise.  Lord knows, we have all made such mistakes. Case in point: not thinking through the repercussions of my first diary before I posted it.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your relentless encouragement to do the right thing and reveal the name of the letter writer.  I also understand your skepticism of the veracity of my diary, because I too was shocked that this respected man, whom I know, could have written those words.  Understandable how so many of you thought it was bogus.  Partly for my selfish need to defend my own reputation, and partly because I recognize the necessity  to not let this kind of attack on Senator Obama go unnoticed, I am revealing his identity.  Also, I don't want this site's reputation to be tarnished either.  I hope you understand my reticence.

If any other Denton County Obama delegates received these letters, please contact me.  My email is in my profile info.

The clinton's pledged that they would not go after pledged delegates.  It appears that they are using their supporters to engage in such an action.  Now you need to do more.  You need to get these letters somehow to the Obama campaign.  You also need to get these into the media.

I appreciate your reservations about publishing the letter, but it's hard  for the rest of us not to be skeptical of unsubstantiated claims.

There's been so many "eye witness accounts" that have turned out to be total bunk that I've trained myself to take everything as bullshit until proven otherwise.

I guess I've become cynical, but I'm not so far gone yet that I'm incapable of admitting when I'm wrong.

I was wrong question the validity of your claims and I apologize for any offense I caused you.
