I've known and admired Barack Obama for years. And since he became my fellow Senator from Illinois, I've had the opportunity to work with him very closely.
Getting to know Barack has only strengthened my opinion of his leadership and his unique ability to bring this country together. If you haven't already, I hope you'll join me in supporting his candidacy and building the movement for change he has inspired across this country.
One thing I've learned about politics is that there's no more effective way to bring about change than talking to your fellow voters face-to-face.
Over the next twelve days, we've got a great opportunity to connect with our neighbors in Indiana and support real change -- here in the Midwest and across the nation.
Join me in taking the short trip to Indiana and canvassing for Barack Obama:

The Indiana primary is less than two weeks away, and we've got a crucial opportunity to support Barack.
His campaign has already captured the imagination of millions of voters, young and old, all across America. That's good for our party and good for our country -- but it won't happen in Indiana without your help.
The Hoosier State is only a short drive away -- will you take a trip to Indiana to canvass for Barack before the May 6th primary?

These days, it's rare to have direct person-to-person contact -- there are so many other ways to communicate.
Everywhere I've canvassed for Barack, people are amazed when they open the door and see a volunteer -- someone taking time out of his or her life to help bring about the change we believe in.
But after they get over the surprise of the moment, they listen.
Your words could make the difference for the people you talk to. And in a race this close, that personal connection could decide the outcome.
Simply hop in your car and join an Obama canvass in Indiana:

Share the story of why you support Barack with voters in Indiana. Yours is the message that will build our movement in this crucial battleground state.
In the final push before the Indiana primary, I'm doing everything I can to help Barack -- and I hope you'll do the same.
Thanks,
Dick
Dick Durbin
U.S. Senator
P.S. -- If you can't make the trip to Indiana, or if you want to reach out to Indiana voters from your own home, you can make calls every day through May 6th.
Barack's campaign has an online tool you can use to call potential supporters in the Hoosier State. All you need is a phone and a connection to the Internet.
When you sign in, you'll get a list of names and numbers of Indiana voters and a simple script you can follow. Pick up the phone and start making calls right now:

Back in the late fall of 2006, Dick Durbin was the first national political figure who made a public declaration that Barack Obama should get in the race. Dick Durbin launched a draft movement through his website for Obama. Now Dick Durbin is working to ensure that Barack Obama gets enough delegates to become the Democratic Party's nominee. Thank you, Senator Durbin, for working to help finish this first step of electing Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States.
