John McCain needs to stand up for his daughter Bridget, Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell

Alan Keys, Clarnence Thomas, any of these Americans!!!!

Will John McCain come out, condemn, denounce, and demand that his own party not make race an issue in the main election when he runs against Barack Obama?

Will John McCain insure that his daughter and these scholars I have mentioned grow in a society where:

They will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Having had the same antics the GOP (and Karl Rove)used against him in the 2000 election, will John McCain really put his fut down and demand ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?

or will he allow this mindset to continue without saying a word and ultimately become Judas trading principal for power?

Having run Senator John McCain's campaign for president, I can recount a textbook example of a smear made against McCain in South Carolina during the 2000 presidential primary. We had just swept into the state from New Hampshire, where we had racked up a shocking, 19-point win over the heavily favored George W. Bush. What followed was a primary campaign that would make history for its negativity.

In South Carolina, Bush Republicans were facing an opponent who was popular for his straight talk and Vietnam war record. They knew that if McCain won in South Carolina, he would likely win the nomination. With few substantive differences between Bush and McCain, the campaign was bound to turn personal. The situation was ripe for a smear.

It didn't take much research to turn up a seemingly innocuous fact about the McCains: John and his wife, Cindy, have an adopted daughter named Bridget. Cindy found Bridget at Mother Theresa's orphanage in Bangladesh, brought her to the United States for medical treatment, and the family ultimately adopted her. Bridget had dark skin.

Anonymous opponents used "push polling" to suggest that McCain's Bangladeshi born daughter was his own, illegitimate black child. In push polling, a voter gets a call, ostensibly from a polling company, asking which candidate the voter supports. In this case, if the "pollster" determined that the person was a McCain supporter, he made statements designed to create doubt about the senator

As we speak, the Republicans in North Carolina along with Fox News and many of our media outlets are using the "Scary Black Man arguement" to paint Obama as an extremist playing into peoples prejudices and fears.  John McCain could put a stop to this if he really wanted to, but I suspect (sigh) that he wont.  He will cower to a corner and allow prejudices to trump principal once again.  If he didn't stand up for his own daughter then, he won't stand up to assure a better future for her now!!!

Check out this crap Fox News promotes http://www.youtube.com/...

Now suppose Bridget McCain (I'm assuming this is her last name) decided she wanted to run for President. Would Fox news judge her by the color of her skin?  If she were a Democrat, you better believe they would.  They are only good minorities (like good boy, or good dog) if they are Republicans.

and the GOP wonders why thay can't make inroads with minorities.

What direction will McCain take now that he's in the drivers seat to move his party progressively foward?

I think we all know the answer.  I can only hope he prove me wrong...

to give Bush and pary a big fat warm hug. I respected john mccain during his run in 2000 for the same reasons you mention. when he did not stand up to defend his daughter, i lost total respect for him. I knew then without a doubt, that republician put party before family and truth, intergrity, morals and values. Republicians has no souls. This is why they can kill millions of people of color "without batting an eye".
