Hillary behind Rev Wright news setup?

Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 05:06:58 AM PDT

I don't know if someone has diary on this but if this is true I think this woman must be exposed. From NY Daily News:

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright couldn't have done more damage to Barack Obama's campaign if he had tried. And you have to wonder if that's just what one friend of Wright wanted.

Shortly before he rose to deliver his rambling, angry, sarcastic remarks at the National Press Club Monday, Wright sat next to, and chatted with, Barbara Reynolds.

A former editorial board member at USA Today, she runs something called Reynolds News Services and teaches ministry at the Howard University School of Divinity. (She is an ordained minister).

It also turns out that Reynolds - introduced Monday as a member of the National Press Club "who organized" the event - is an enthusiastic Hillary Clinton supporter

On a blog linked to her Web site- www.reynoldsnews.com- Reynolds said in a February post: "My vote for Hillary in the Maryland primary was my way of saying thank you" to Clinton and her husband for the successes of Bill Clinton's presidency.

The same post criticized Obama's "Audacity of Hope" theme: "Hope by definition is not based on facts," wrote Reynolds. It is an emotional expectation. Things hoped for may or may not come. But help based on experience trumps hope every time."

In another blog entry, Reynolds gives an ever-sharper critique of Obama: "It is a sad testimony that to protect his credentials as a unifier above the fray, the senator is fueling the media characterization that Rev. Dr. Wright is some retiring old uncle in the church basement."...

The last sentence says it all. We need more on this. I don't have any doubt that they will do anything to win.

UPDATE Ok don't get lost here. The campaign doesn't have to be directly involved. The Rev himself may not be aware of the consequences. This seems to me a windfall for them and they try to take advantage of it.

UPDATE 2 I was going thru some of the comments. you guys are amazing. I didn't know Rev Wright was invited to the WH during Bubba's time.
commenter Paladine says:

I bet Rev. Wright was pissed about the way he was portrayed and was ripe pickings for the Clinton people.
I saw Bill Bradley on MCNBC yesterday asking the Media to answer/investigate WHY Rev. Wright came forward NOW. NOW, with NC and Indiana so close...NOW is a great time to benefit Clinton. I think the Obama campaign knows more than they are saying.

Clinton is all about oppo research.  Her team found the tapes, filtered through them, found some juicy quotes, sent them to networks.

Obama should have been better prepared.  Never go up against a Clinton and expect them to play nice.

  •  At this point, I think it was betrayal enough (4+ / 0-)

that Wright did this on his own.  That is bad enough.  If there is a Clinton angle to this, wow, I just feel for the Obamas.

    Here's his take...

I don't mean to suggest some kind of plot. Her agenda here seems to have been the same as Wright's: To protect the minister's reputation from, among others, Obama.

"[I]t is a sad testimony that to protect his credentials as a unifier above the fray the Senator is fueling the media characterization that Rev. Dr. Wright is some retiring old uncle in the church basement instead of respecting Wright for the towering astute father of progressive social and global causes that he is," Reynolds wrote in March.

Reynolds' is well placed to defend Wright. Her bio says she teaches "prophetic ministry and the media" at Howard University's divinity school.

A stounch Clinton supporter who was clearly against Wright NOW introduces him to make a political news conf just before another primary

First off, Reynolds is not now, nor ever was she a "Staunch" Clinton supporter.  You are basing that ENTIRELY on the fact that she voted for Clinton in the Maryland primary, even though SHE HERSELF says she only voted for Clinton as a "Thanks" for Bill Clinton's administration.  Not only is she not a "staunch" supporter, she's not a Clinton supporter at all.  She voted for Clinton for reasons that had nothing to do with Clinton.

You also claim that Reynolds "was clearly against Wright."  Well guess what, you're full of crap there too.  Here are some excerpts from her blog on March 17th, just as the Wright story was breaking:

Without the prophetic, bold voices and organizing ability of leaders like Pastor Jeremiah Wright of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago there would be no U.S. Senator Barack Obama with a decent chance at becoming the first black president of the United States.

Pastor Jeremiah Wright is no weird, anti-American hater and separatist cult leader. He loved his country enough to serve in the U.S. Marines

I am inspired by Wright’s leadership

The Jeremiah I know is a sought-after preacher in seminaries across the country.

Whether you disagree or agree with Wright’s controversial statements it is a terrible disservice to ignore his contributions as a theologian, pastor, and educator.

What a scheming bitch!  She's really tearing Wright a new asshole.  Have you ever seen such clever manuevering?  I mean ONLY a STAUNCH CLINTON SUPPORTER could pull off something like this.  The way she does nothing but praise him when really (as you say) she's "clearly against him."

Give me a break.  Somebody says something that doesn't qualify as licking Obama's boot so you go off half cocked and imply that it must be a secret Clinton plot to destroy him.  This diary is crap.

Her op research is unbelievable and they probably set the blog on purpose to use it later as a justification that she is neutral. In anycase read whatever you want to read into it.
