Pastor Hagee on YouTube

I'm going to get a little muddy here.  I really don't want to.  You see, I'm not a journalist.  I don't get paid for these electronic mutterings here on "the internets."  Like many of us here, I come to Kos first in the morning, then get my news digest by sifting through a few other news websites.  It's not exactly easy to find germane, relevant news off a website stuffed with "news of the weird," (and I'm talking about CNN here) but a thinking person can get information without too much trouble.

Then comes political reporting.  As we all know, those reporting politics aren't the brightest bulbs in the box.  Regurgitating press releases is a hard day's work for these simpletons.  Analysis is best left to the "panel" on This Week, composed of journalists who don't leave Washington or even talk to anyone outside the Washington cocktail circuit.

So, with the Wright "controversy" continuing to keep the attention of these dimwits, how does one react to the recent New York Times editorial noting John Sidney McCain III's link to bat-guano crazy Pastor Ted Hagee?

You go on the "YouTubes" yourself.  After all, it's not like the MSM is actually doing their jobs.

So, have we heard from our "fair and balenced" friends in the media about Mr. McCain's friend, Pastor John Hagee?  Have we seen any of these clips played on TV?  Has a hack producer been sent out to ambush-interview any of Hagee's friends, supporters or family?  Or have we gotten Reverend Wright 24/7?  I've reported, you decide.

Seriously, I want one of these media jobs.  Sit around all day, do your "research" by watching other media people, perhaps looks some stuff up on the computer and then meet up with all your friends and pretend to have an argument for a segment or two on Sunday morning.  I'm constantly shaking my head and thinking These people get paid for this!

  As for The Founding Fathers and the Jews...I was taught in High School that both Greek and Hebrew were interesting to them, and briefly considered as languages for our new nations...because of the Democracy roots and the Chosen People analogy.

  I'd love to see visuals--charts and graphs--comparing the candidates' churches/pastors/prayer circles and what they do. Implement Biblical teachings? Care for sick, poor, etc?

  He called the Catholic Church a "whore" and talked about the beast devouring the whore or apostate church.  That is calling for the destruction of the Catholic Church.  That is pretty bad.  And as a recovering Catholic, I am not a big fan of the Church.

  Also, someone should get a video of today's The View. It was on the TV and I wasn't watching but I heard the majority of the panel talking about Hagee, and they possibly had clips, and I believe Hasselbeck went off the deep end to try and "put it into context" or something.

•  Well it will help, but...

  Showing this stuff, I presume, would be meant primarily to communicate McCain's hypocrisy to the evangelical right?  If so, the problems are:

  A) Hagee criticizes Catholicism.  A lot of right wing evangeliclas either don't like Catholicism or are indifferent to it.

  B) He seems to be speaking in support of Israel.  Right wing evangelicals are largely fanatical in their support for Israel.  They believe the Rapture can only occur while Israel exists and they also accept the stuff about Jews being God's chosen people.

  C) He says Katrina was God's punishment for the people of New Orleans.  Not too many right wing evangelicals are going disagree with that.

  D) Reverend Wright says nasty things about 'Merica.  THAT the right-wing evangelicals DO care about and, to many of them, New Orleans just isn't 'Merican enough to count (i.e. too many Black people, too many topless women, Gay Pride parades and voodoo).

  If Hagee didn't know what to say to appeal to the right wing evangelicals, he wouldn't be where he is today.  So, while getting this stuff out there would certainly help influence the non-religious/moderately religious independents, don't expect many RWE's to give a crap about it.  In fact, they might see it as a plus for McCain.

    What I want to know:  When did the MSM decide that actually finding "truth" wasn't in their job description?  Truth:  McCain talks, but then votes another way.  Is this reported?  No.  Instead, the MSM runs some McCain comments, then some B roll, then the dueling press releases from each side.  

    It's "fair and balanced," you see.

    How far does this go?  Does McCain get to say "I actually was top of my class in Annapolis," while the truth is different, and the press just "reports both sides?"  Where is the truth, you dimwits?  Remember, when watching the MSM, realize they get paid for that swill!
