Another straight opinion piece done in the interests of getting on with the damn show! November on my mind...

John McCain and the Lessons of Domestic Economics: Cindy Made Big John Sign a Pre-Nup!
Presumed Republican Presidential nominee John McCain has been polling low on economic issues, issues that are front and center in the minds of Americans these days. It also appears that he doesn’t rate too well on this hot button issue around his own house.
It seems that when his totally hot, totally rich, second wife Cindy said yes to his ‘big question’, she also let him know that his job wasn’t finished until the paperwork was done. This tough bride, whose financials are none of your damn business thank you very much, made Big John sign a prenuptial agreement. How’s that again? A possible POTUS with a pre-nup?
Let’s take a look at the implications here. What is a prenuptial agreement for and why would someone want one? If marriage is sanctioned by God and valid until death does part you cute kids, why go into it with a financial escape clause; a ‘golden parachute’ of love? Well, the reasons for doing so are obvious and can be fully expressed in two points. Point A: ‘This thing may not last and I’ll be damned if I’m going to be broken hearted and broke’ and Point B: ‘I don’t really trust this son of a bitch’. In other words, it is all about trust. In other, other words; Cindy McCain doesn’t.
She has reasons not to, as does any girl who marries the guy she’s been having an adulterous affair with. Obviously, if he did it with you then what will stop him from doing it to you? Nothing too complicated about that. At that point the paramour of the affair and the cuckolded wife stand on the same square. This goes on all of the time, every day and right this second someone you may know is standing on that same square, thinking that same unwelcome thought; ‘I got it. Now, will I get it too?’ I’m not condemning McCain for his domestic situations. What I am questioning though is how this pre-marital show of no support will play in the minds of voters. Will they overlook this small affair or will its’ implications cast doubt on whether John McCain can be trusted with the U.S. Economy. After all, if his own wife doesn’t trust him with her hundred million dollar asset, how can we trust him with our trillion dollar deficit?
These things all sound so dire, but we know that affairs of the heart usually straighten themselves out and that things work out Okay. After all, the very first Mrs. McCain, as we learned from the candidates tax return, faired pretty well from all of this. It seems that Big John, being of big heart, gives his long suffering first spouse a whopping $17,000 per year that she can spend any way she wants; gas, food, medical bills, rent; the skies the limit with that kind of jing.
Will the average American voter find any comfort in this situation? Will Joe or Mary Sixpack look at this and think, ‘hey, this McCain fellow understands what life is like at the Sixpack residence’? Chances are that when Mary said yes to Joe she did it with a lot less of a guarantee than when Cindy said yes to John. She more than likely did it the old fashioned way; she winged it like the first Mrs. McCain.
