Shout Out to WA-2 delegates: I am running to be a delegate in Denver! (w/ poll!)

Sun May 11, 2008 at 11:25:15 AM PDT

WARNING: CONTAINS UNCENSORED SELF-PROMOTION IN THE OBAMA CAUSE!

If you look at my UID, you'll see that, though I'm no Meteor Blades, I've been around awhile here on the sunny shores of Big Orange. In 2004, I was for Kerry before that was popular here, and still think, based on lots of on the ground testimony, that WE WUZ ROBBED in Ohio.  Back then, I was a Kerry delegate to my (Island County, WA) convention, but went no further.

This time, I was drawn early to Obama, and caucused for him at our Feb. 9 caucus, helping change the minds of most of the first-round Clinton-backers in our precinct.  I went on to the County Convention April 19, where I was part of the Obama presentation, and got elected an alternate to the CD2 caucus May 17 in Mount Vernon.  I decided, against very long odds, to seek election to the next level, on to Denver!  There are only three seats from our CD for males, and over a hundred contenders.

I'm told the way this campaign may be won is through the intertubes, so here I am, campaigning.  Shameless!  Pimp!  Oh well, as they say, the voters need to be asked for their votes!

So, if you are a delegate in WA-2, or can influence one or more, I appeal for your support.  Here's my ObamaDelegate Candidacy page (a work in progress) at wetpaint.  Come read my pitch, and leave comments for improvement, either here or there.

Here are two of my favorite "from-below" Obama music videos so far:

Amigos de Obama cantan "Viva Obama"

IN A FURTHER ACT OF SHAMELESSNESS I AM SOLICITING REC'S TO KEEP THIS DIARY UP A TAD LONGER, THAT IT MIGHT BE SEEN BY WA-2 FOLKS!

Thank you for your consideration.  On to victory!

      •  thanks, sara (0+ / 0-)

it will be interesting to see how the WA-2 caucus breaks out, regardless of my own prospects

in Island Co. 4/19, the Obama % improved from Feb.'s 68% to 70%

obviously, to improve our split of national delegates is a tall order, but I think we won't slide back at least

        •  I think Obama is doing terrific in WA state (0+ / 0-)

it will be interesting to see how he'll do in Oregon.

I trust he will do very well -- and I hope that OR will give hima good send-off - to blunt anything from WV and KY.

  •  Sorry this is OT, but Penncove shellfish..... (0+ / 0-)

are my very favorite. The oysters, mussels, and clams from that area are absolutely some of the best in the world. I was going to order some from a purveyor that has a site on the net, and cold ships fresh product. But, when I saw the shipping charges, which came to almost $35 for $35 worth of assorted shellfish (a quart of shucked fresh oysters, a dozen whole clams and a dozen mussels, all Penncove), I about died, and canceled the order. I guess I'll have to make a trip up to savor the goodness!

BTW, good luck to you up there in your quest to be a delegate.

are never OT (unless, I guess, you keep kosher)

My username's connection is because I was co-owner of the Inn at Penn Cove B&B in Coupeville for 14 years.

      Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm only half-Jewish, and the Gentile half wants mussels, pork sausage links, garlic infused pork roast, applewood smoked bacon, etc., and it will not be denied! LOL!

Give me Penn Cove mussels (steamed in a sauce of garlic, butter, parsley, a bit of chicken broth, and Chat. Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc) or give me death!! LOL!

Used to work for Chateau Ste. Michelle as one of their area managers, covering several western states, but not Washington. Loved to go up there though, especially for all the wonderful food. Part of my family emigrated from Nova Scotia via Vancouver B.C., and on down to Ballard. Another part actually helped found Vancouver, WA, and settle the area of Goldenrod, WA on the Gorge.

Especially if the visit costs you a thousand dollars for that serving.

Of course there are side benefits.

complaining about the $35 shipping for the shellfish... Of course these days it might cost that much just to drive up there.... LOL! Where's the pic?

BTW Penncove, not meaning to hijack your thread. I figure some post numbers might help the diary get some attention.

  •  What are you doing (0+ / 0-)

to elect Tim Knue to the Legislature?  I think that is one of our top pickup opportunities.

    •  yeah, i thought (0+ / 0-)

Tim would win last time.  As to what I'm doing personally, not sure yet.  We have two excellent County Commissioner candidates here this year, and, beyond Obama, think that's likely to be my primary political focus.  I saw Tim working the crowd at the IC convention, and he looked like he had game.....
