MyDD infighting continued:

In an earlier diary skjold wondered if MyDD was finally coming around.

I think the answer is forthcoming.  MyDD is becoming unglued.

Any of us few who have dared to venture there know that Jerome Armstrong has lost his nut.  He now thinks a fight to Denver is a fair and good idea

Luckily, more solid Democrats do not appear to be on board with Jerome's slash and burn strategy.  Look at Jonathan Singer's reply:

What do Gerald Ford in 1976, Jimmy Carter in 1980, Walter Mondale in 1984 and George H.W. Bush in 1992 have in common? Convention fights (the last four serious ones at the convention I can remember, or at least four of the most serious ones in recent memory). What else do they have in common? They all lost in the general election. How about McGovern in '72 or Humphrey in '68? While there might not be a causation between a convention fight and a party's loss (there could and were other factors that played large rolls in the losses mentioned that went beyond the convention fights for sure), there certainly has been a correlation between the two. It's for that reason that a lot of folks think it's in the Democrats' best interest to get this fight over before Denver and not at Denver.

There are solid Clinton supporters who are not on board with a strategy which will doom our Party in November.  We should welcome them with open arms.  The risk of losing in November is too great, not just for US but also for the rest of the world.

As much as I think Obama is a great candidate I also recognize the dangers of four more years of madness.

I hope calmer heads on MyDD succeed in hosing Jerome down.  But we also have to come together here too.

      I understand that this guy has a history on the blogosphere, one that my impression is was filled with promise.

      Now, I'm sure that in a previous life he must have made some sense...but that's not what he's branding himself with now. What I have viewed of Mr. Armstrong leaves me to the conclusion that he is a schill, willing to ban at a moment's notice for rational disagreement, willing to embrace illogical train of thoughts to come to a rather skewed conclusion that supports life as a he wishes it to be and the only thing that is saving his blogging glutomus maximus is the fact that he has a few front pagers still willing to work with him who engage in thoughtful analysis.

      It's interesting to watch someone embrace their own intellectual destruction.

        is that he and aziz and myself started the very first howard dean weblog on the whole of the internet(s) back in july of 2002.  jerome really played a crucial role early on in bringing newbies like me into the political process.  he did some great things for the progressive blogosphere.  i mean, the list is huge.  

        nowadays i just don't know what to think of that site.  the jerome i know isn't unhinged or illogical.  which makes mydd's current state even more puzzling to me.

          I only recently learned who was this "Jerome" person I heard mentioned from time to time.  So I am as far from expert on this matter as anyone.  That being said, it strikes me that this person's claim to fame lies in recognizing the usefullness of th eInternet as a political tool.  He was on the leading edge in developing this tool for use.  He earned a good reputation for that work.

          But now the tool is ewell-known.  Now one's reputation depends on the quality of commentary. For this job Mr Armstrong seems woefully under-qualified. His essays are as thin on content, insight, and wisdom - and as heavy on self-congratulation - as Big Tent Democrat's.

        Alegra, TD, Teresa and the ever entertaining DTaylor are still giving it their all - I've noticed a lot of other Clinton regulars have gone very quiet.  The tide is most definitely turning, and a lot of Obama lurkers are starting to post.  For Jerome though, it's over.  Once you lose credibility it's gone for ever - I can't see how he as any relevance once this primary is over.

  This is OVER.  The ones who can't accept that are not democrats anymore they're cultist.  There aren't so many of them that we'll actually need them in november.  There won't be any fight at the convention.  All the reasonably sane people in our party understand that there's more at stake than Hillary's narcissism.

  There's almost always some drunk at a party who doesn't realize it's time to go home.  Generally there are enough sensible people around to put him/her in a cab and send the off into the night.  I trust that most of the DD crew are wise enough to realize the party's over.

  Jerome trots out several examples of convention fights to show they are routine and normal. So therefore, Hillary should be allowed to continue.

  But, what he failed to mention is that every convention fight in modern history, on both the Republican and Democratic side ended up in a loss in the General Election.

                  Probably 100,000 readers a day are still on dial-up, like me, out in the rural areas and we just can't handle videos and Flash and all that modern stuff. We'd love it too but can't wait all day to download it. Better we have readers than great bling.

                    Yeah flash can be a bit weird on dial up but the vector thing actually ends up using less bandwidth if you do it right.

        but I think the main reason I made DKos my BlogHome was that it was the only one on all the internets I could tolerate navigating. Even though I hate orange and have toyed with the idea of trying to make a Firefox plugin that turns orange text to some readable colour.

          Well, there was that old Firefox plugin that let you color-code the user names, so that your own name showed up green, and users you liked or hated would show up in blue or red; but it stopped working several iterations of Firefox and a couple of iterations of Daily Kos ago. Dammit. And the guy who wrote it abandoned it, too. Dammit.

  without that, the faster we can get a nominee, the better our chances. There were some benefit from the extended primary fight, but many were negated by the tone of the clinton fight, and anyway they are moot by now. only Barack Obama can be the democratic nominee without a fight, now.

  That used to be one of my top 5 blogs, and now it's just a non-stop, anti-Obama rant.  Big Tent Democrat thinks Clinton will win if only he can publish enough diaries.  Jeralyn can hardly get a word in edgewise, and when she does it's often just a repeat of something  BTD already posted.  And if she manages to publish a unique diary, he repeats it.

  is just read through the archives these last 3 months.

  I mean, day after day, predictions that never pan out, forecasts that never materialize, and constant double standards defending the ever shifting message of the Clinton campaign. That is what MyDD has become.

  If I had the time to sit down and do a collage of all the posts there by jerome & a few others, it would make your head explode.

  So instead I will just fall back on my old favorite memory of this campaign season that sums up myDD:
