They call me MISTER Tibbs! (w/ Poll)

Sun May 11, 2008 at 11:05:12 PM PDT

and I'm on my way to West Virginia and Kentucky to squelch the bigots and that wannabe small-town mayor Bill Clinton.  Follow me after the jump for details on this mission.

Police Chief Bill Gillespie will accompany me on this mission.  We intend to illustrate the error of the bigot's thinking, anytime we hear "Muslim", "Unpatriotic", "Atheist", "Terrorist", "Elitist", by slapping them silly and then making them watch the entirety of Roots followed by the original Guess Who's Coming to Dinner for 48 straight hours.  People may object to this tactic on the grounds that they believe it to be brainwashing but my position is that they've already been brainwashed and we have to re-brainwash them via liberal mainstream Hollywood.

We are currently accepting applications for the "Mister Tibbs Counter-Bigot Fellows" .

More details to come...

But I don't get it. Poitier? Mmm, not so much. and Roots? "They" will be expecting that.

You need something more subversive, something that will make people laugh, then think later, at home.

      •  If I were to write a serious diary on how (0+ / 0-)

to actually change the way people think I wouldn't use film by itself as a means .  On another note, how do you "think" someone out of their perverse self-created little world where people aren't equal?

Poitier was often criticized for the noble roles he took but I just like the Mr. Tibbs taking-no-shit attitude.

  •  Note Poitier Wasn't an American Black (0+ / 0-)

    He's Jamaican.

Bill Cosby broke some important color barriers in his time but his dialect and his material were also very far from mainstream black.

We actually do better with quite dark skin color than we do with culture.

That's where the quote comes from, and a great movie I might add.
