We should cut Bush a break...

Tue May 13, 2008 at 07:54:48 PM PDT

Sure, countless amounts of people worldwide have suffered for the mistakes of our fearless leader.  But has anyone taken the time to consider what he's been through?  The sacrafices he has made?  I didn't think so.  More after the jump...

Current est. have the civilian deaths from violence count at anywhere between 83,521-91,094.  We also know that over 4,000 of America's soldiers are no longer with us, while thousands upon thousands more have a permanent reminder of the mistakes of our leaders.  I don’t even want to imagine the horror of receiving that call or that knock on the door telling you that your loved one(s) is/are not coming home.  My wife is in the Army and she has been to Iraq, and it's not fun not hearing from them for weeks or months at a time wondering if everything is ok.  The sacrifices these people make are amazing and we should never forget nor forgive what President Bush has done.

However, I don’t think we truly give President Bush the understanding he deserves.  I don’t think we realize, better yet, care what he has done for us.  He's made sacrifices too!  This was just in the Huffington Post.  That’s right, he gave up golf!  Golf!  Wait for it... GOLF!!!  As you can guess, this is were the snark ends.  (is that what it's called?  This is my first diary so I'm not sure.)

The nerve of this man.  What a joke!  I can't believe he had the nerve to say this:

"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf," he said. "I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."

I guess on one hand it's true.  You don’t want to be playing golf when people are dying for no reason because of something you did.  It's not a good look.  But to imply that this is some great sacrifice that you are making?  You feel like you owe us something?  How about giving back the lives of those lost?  How about bringing our troops home?  How about you cut the BS and go away?

I've had about as much as I can take with this man.  Is it 2009 yet?

  •  Golf is boring... (4+ / 0-)

and is easy to give up.  He should try giving up something that's difficult for him to part with.  Something like imperialistic war.  Or torture.  Or eating crayons.

Instead of twenty life sentences for war crimes served consecutively, I am willing to let him serve them concurrently.
(Of course, somebody will have to explain the difference to him.)

he's the President... we can't have him off running around Afghanistan having fun like all those Special Forces guys..... George has serious decidin' to do......

But he still TRIES to remain 'involved' - why he PERSONALLY approved all those torture 'interrogation' techniques..... he even wanted to try them out on puppies (frogs ain't big enough), but people told him that was 'un-Presidential'..... he still thought cherry bombs would have been a good way to get those terraists to talk but they squashed THAT too.....

so soldiers...take heart.... despite the lack of enough troops to do an impossible job, utter lack of post-war planning, lack of equipment, endless deployments, 'stop-loss', lousy care, crappy hospitals and VA facilities, and vetoes of any legislation BENEFITTING 'the troops'......... Bush really has made sacrifices.....

Hell, he wanted to shoot off a few Patriot Missiles at Jenna's wedding but knew they were needed elsewhere..... he even passed on the carpetbombing demonstration because the planes were needed in Iraq.....  (he settled for a Predator flyover).....

    Just remember - Bush cares......

and please, please, don't any of you disgruntled patriotic soldiers fed up after getting stop-lossed and doing tour after tour in Iraq come looking to 'thank' George after he leaves office.... he's going to be in Nuevo Crawford in Paraguay.... the place has lots of walls and fences and the Blackwater Security forces have been brainwashed into complete obedience and have orders to shoot to kill.... your former Imperial Leader Commander in Charge Unitary Executive President wouldn't want any troops hurt in unfortunate 'hunting accidents'

My feelings about our fearless leader can summed up in a comment I posted earlier today.  It bears repeating.

  •  President Eisenhower loved to play golf, (0+ / 0-)

but he NEVER started a war.

  •  GW's nose just grew a little longer (0+ / 0-)

GW said in this WP Interview

... he decided to stop playing golf on Aug. 19, 2003, when a truck bomb in Baghdad killed U.N. special representative Sergio Vieira de Mello and more than a dozen others.

... but kept on playing nonetheless!
