Move On . Us

Fri May 16, 2008 at 09:00:12 PM PDT

I stumbled across dKos a couple of years ago; delighted to find a site with often similar views to my own, complete with insightful and timely analyses of the political situation, I began to recommend it to others. Now, recall, this was before the primary candidates had declared.

I remember early on in this race that a number of contributors to this site were not so keen on Obama, mainly because he was not as bloodthirsty for vengeance against the Republicans as was the demand in those days. At that time, I had no preference in the soon to be upcoming primary battles. I was a Gore guy from '88, and was not heavily invested in any candidature for the 2008 nomination. In my humble consideration, Bill was good, but he was a strike against Hillary from the get-go.

As this site became more and more an Obama fan-club, I can't say I minded - given that, chronologically, it followed my evolution as an Obama supporter. I must say however, that, given the number of anti-Hillary diaries that I see on a daily basis, some of the attendees to Kos' party haven't gotten the message. (Excuse the caps) WE ARE ALL ON THE SAME TEAM!!!!!

It has been a hard-fought primary season and, you know what?, we've still got 5 more to go. Let it be. We know who the candidate is; let's try to begin to make our arguments and tap into the wellspring that is this membership to brainstorm on how we can explain to the American people that we NEED the Democratic candidate to win the WH this time.

If we allow ourselves to be played by their divide and conquer strategy, you will wake up one morning to find a Dem congress under President McCain.

Say it with me.

NOT THIS TIME!!!!

We WILL come together NOW and start to work together in earnest to bring in those Americans who voted against their economic interests by supporting the GOP.

We WILL come together NOW and start to work together in earnest to bring in those Americans who voted against their national interests in allowing this administration to endebt the country and take us into a war of choice, while allowing those who attacked us to relax in their safe havens in Pakistan.

Anyway, I don't get paid enough to blog to continue with this rhetoric, but I think you get the idea.

God Bless our America.

BTW, apropos of nothing, neat little LATimes delegate counter that shows how, however generous you want to be towards Hill, she can't win.

But, though sometimes folks do take bashing Senator Clinton for a sport, this site offers a lot. From IGTNT diaries, to some awesome analysis on the front page, a constant and consistent push against shady legislation (FISA), multiple posts by members of congress (shout-out to Senator Kerry), Mr. Keith Olbermann speaking truth to power, and the ever so important diaries keeping the spotlight on Dem races around the country.

On, and how can I forget JeffLieber's diaries!

Every 20 years or so, the Democratic Party flames out, just because.

Adlai Stevenson.  George McGovern.  Jimmy Carter.  Barack Obama.  What wonderful company.

It's the obverse of Goldwater -- the GOP knows how to lose an election for a reason.   Not us.

    No more Republican rule.

    •  My father almost lost his job for Adlai (0+ / 0-)

doing deliveries for a pharmacy, he learned that Adlai Stevenson was going to be passing through Jersey City. He perched himself in a vantage spot and waited all day...

the campaign chnged the candidate's schedule - my father never saw him - and his boss wondered why the hell Mrs Smith didn't get her tonic on time. He is a devoted cynic now, but proud of that first vote that he ever cast.

I am proud of him too.

I will NOT vote for Obama for President.

OTOH, we WILL have a Dem Congress.  Let them stand up and represent us, for once.

            No more Republican rule.

Supreme Court justices. I'm in MD, a Dem state, I did the Nader-trader thing - there is a diff between a Dem and a repub in the WH.

After the Roberts and Alito confirmations (with Democratic consent), you're going to play that tired card?

You think 100% of the people are fools 100% of the time?  Please.

                LOL!

                You're so 1996!

Intellectually, I would have a hard time finding reasons to oppose Roberts. I think that, over time, his intellect will overcome ideology. Alito is a worst case scenario.

"Advise and consent" does not equal the right to propose. Without a Dem pres, we will end up with perhaps less Alitos, but def more Robertses.

My conscience has my vote, too; my conscience says we must deny Bush's party the WH. I couldn't live with my conscience if I in the least contributed to a continuation of these same policies that have diminished the standing of the US in the world, that have impoverished so many of our own citizens in order to enrich those who are already well endowed, that have contributed to the dumbing down of the politacal discourse...etc.

If you want to hear what I'm talikng about, let's take it slow; if not, then I'm wearing out my typing finger for nothing.

this time we must follow our leader. They do not like McSame at all!  They despise him, they would get rid of him if they could. But... they tow the line.  They are good troopers.

We must do the same. I was for Edwards, and I still am. I will support Obama, even though he is too vague about what he is going to do. I will tow the line. For our children's future. We must stick together no matter what!
