    he watched the Celtics/Cavs game and the Sox/Brewers game on television yesterday.

    John Kerry came to visit him and stayed for almost 45 minutes.

    Kennedy ordered take out food from Legal Sea Foods for Sunday dinner.

    Today he is walking around and anxious to get back to work but doctors are insisting they do not want to release him until they do more tests to find out why he had the seizure(s).

            HRC keeps saying we shouldn't decide the nomination based on "48 states" when she talks about FL and MI, but in 2004 the nomination was decided after about ten states!  Kerry wrapped it up awfully fast and people in the later states still voted but they knew the nominee was decided.

            that's the way it happens almost every presidential year, and the other guys drop out without claiming that being asked to drop out is the same as stopping the rest of the primaries or shutting off the right of the later states to vote.

            by the time Massachusetts in 2004 voted Kerry had been the presumptive nominee for quite a while, and Dean has suspended his campaign, but I voted for Dean anyway.  No one is preventing Hillary voters from voting for her.  People are still voting for Edwards and Romney and Huckabee.

            And if she suspends her campaign now, the primaries in PR and SD and MT won't be cancelled, they will be just like the MA primary was in 2004.  The nominee will have clinched before the last primary is held.

    •  There are only 871,922 registered Dems

      So that is the Dem vote cap.  We don't know how many of the 727,527 are Democratic ballots.  I am just speculating that it is roughly 2:1.  My prediction has been 650K Dem votes in Oregon.  That would be 74.5% of Dems returning their mail-in ballots.

      The previous record this election season for a closed Dem primary was PA with 55%.  But with mail-in Oregon was always going to set the closed primary record.  The question is by how much. (55% turnout would be 480K).

      Campaign staff/Oregon Dem Party workers have access to the VAN in Oregon, and they can log in and see how many Dem ballots have been returned out of that 727,527.  I am just looking for a percentage, in case someone out there with access sees this and can reply.

    I grew up 25 miles from Baltimore, and we used to have pairs that would build nests high up in our big oak trees in the backyard.

    I never saw them eat anything but bugs.

      ...nectar and fruit and, apparently, suet.

      We have an orange feeder which the orioles have been loving.  We used to have an oriole feeder, which is basically a nectar feeder, just like the hummingbird feeder, but orange instead of red.  Never had an oriole come to it, but had lots of hummingbirds.  Eventually we just did hummingbird feeders instead :)

      Then, this year, the orioles started going after the hummingbird feeders.  Go figure.

  I just saw this on the Obama blog.  The Crow Nation officially adopted him as a member and gave him a new name that means "he who helps all the people of the land."  It just warms my heart when I see him being embraced by people everywhere.

  I just got off the phone with my son in Bozeman, Montana.  Obama is speaking there tonight.  My son is a college student and works part-time at Avis.  He said that Obama's right hand man picked up the rental car from Avis and invited all of the employees and their friends to come and see the talk at the MSU fieldhouse.  My son was thrilled that all of these young, conservative Republicans are excited to go to the Obama rally tonight!  Way smart and a priceless way to reach out in states that we formerly wrote off and teach people about the Democratic party through our candidate.  Also, the local news (they still have local news, unlike NJ!) is showing the rally live.

•  Talking to Ahmadinejad

  Much continues to be made of the possibility that President Obama might be sitting down for talks with President Ahmadinejad of Iran.  The Iranians have a presidential election scheduled for June, 2009.   Ahmadinejad has said that he will not stand for re-election, so there is really not going to be enough time for Obama to meet with Ahmadinejad.  I believe that he will have to meet with the NEXT President of Iran.

  Barak Obama is close to that point, and I must say I think he's remained quite poised and dignified compared to that image by Hunter Thompson.  He's also remained rather poised compared to his competitor for the Democratic nomination.

  Does anyone ever feel guilty for having to go to bed when a conversation is in full swing?  Dkos needs an "is online" label so that folks know that responding to such and such a person won't get you any satisfaction because they're gone. :)

  Also, you'd think I'd know this, but there's apparently a shortcut for blockquoting something.  Anyone know what it is?  I just use the blockquote tag, but that's getting tiresome.
