The Right's America-hating preacher

Fri May 02, 2008 at 12:52:38 PM PDT

While everyone was bickering over Jeremiah Wright, legendary ex-Newsweek reporter Robert Parry--my hero and the most fearless journalist in America, was in his ConsortiumNews.com studio, cutting his latest bombtrack. I hope this doesn't get ignored because of primary politix.

In a world where the right wing controls the debate, Parry writes,

[I]t's not news that a viciously anti-American religious figure has invested billions of dollars in financing the U.S. conservative movement and put fat wads of cash into the pockets of many prominent Republicans, including members of President George W. Bush's own family.

While Sen. Obama has to explain what he knew and when he knew it about Wright's angry sermons, the Bush Family floats above its financial and political associations with the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, a South Korean theocrat who had denounced the United States as "Satan's harvest" and likened American women to "prostitutes."

In his angry sermons, Moon has gone further than saying "God-damn America" - as Wright did - to vowing to sweep aside American democracy and individualism as he builds a one-world state.

Once his plan to "swallow entire America" is complete, Moon told his followers in one sermon, there will be "some individuals who complain inside your stomach. However, they will be digested."

But Moon's hatred of America is not deemed news, in part, because Moon has financed the Washington Times since 1982 to the tune of more than $3 billion, according to former newspaper insider George Archibald.

Moon also has lavished many millions of dollars more to pay for conservative conferences and to bail out key right-wing figures when they have found themselves in financial distress, including Republican direct-mail guru Richard Viguerie and the late Jerry Falwell.

Plus, Moon has paid large speaking fees to former President George H.W. Bush - estimated in the millions of dollars - and has feted President George W. Bush's brother Neil at recent events for the Moon-sponsored Universal Peace Federation.

In 2004, thankful Republicans even gave Moon use of a room in the Senate Dirksen Office Building so he could be crowned the "King of Peace" in a ceremony that Moon's followers hailed as proof the U.S. government was bowing down to this new Messiah.

Read the rest here.

Charlie Black, John McCain's chief political advisor, helped arrange that event. I'll have more on that later.

The Polk Award-winning Parry, by the way, broke a big part of what became the Iran-Contra scandal. But he wasn't craven enough to fit in with the Washington beltway press.

Rock on.

  •  This is the reason the Paraguayan (4+ / 0-)

government is currently investigating Moon's million acre tract in that country.

What is almost never referenced are his long-standing ties to organized crime and international drug smuggling, including the Japanese yakuza gangs and South American cocaine traffickers. Even first-hand accounts of Moon's money-laundering from insiders like his former daughter-in-law Nansook Hong draw no U.S. media attention.

His property sits on the Paraguay, Brazil and Bolivian  borders in northwestern Paraguay which is a major drug traffic highway.  It also sits on top of the world's largest fresh water aquifer.

The Moonies will lie and claim that Moon quit supporting the fascist right wing World Anti Communist League in the early 70s because it was too anti-Semitic. In fact, they still had a major presence at WACL's convention in 1984.

Mr. Martin Almada in Paraguay uncovered documentation of the torturing dictator Stroessner’s horrors. Alamda is putting together a museum in which he is showing what is called the "Archives of Terror."

Todays’ Moon molded conservative is conditioned to view those who use torture like Stroessner, Pinochet and Bush as heroes.

When Jimmie Carter came into office he cut funds to Operation Condor which supported these disgusting torture regimes.

Guess who came in and picked up the slack?

      SOUTH AMERICA:
'Archives of Terror' Yield New Horrors

      Darío Montero

The so-called "archives of terror" discovered by a human rights lawyer in Paraguay over a decade ago continue to yield new information on the cooperation between the de facto regimes that ruled much of South America in the 1970s and 1980s.

MONTEVIDEO, Sep 16 (IPS) - Paraguayan activist and lawyer Martín Almada visited Uruguay this week to hand over documents recently found in the archives of terror, which indicate that the number of Uruguayans who were detained in Paraguay during the dictatorial regimes was much greater than human rights groups had previously realised.

In December 1992, Almada, who was held as a political prisoner and tortured in his country in the 1970s, came across a room full of official records in a police station near the Paraguayan capital.

The hundreds of thousands of documents that he basically discovered by accident pertain to the torture and forced disappearances carried out by the dictatorship of Gen. Alfredo Stroessner (1954-1989) in Paraguay.

But the archives of terror are especially important because they contain secret documents shedding light on Operation Condor, a coordinated plan among the military governments that ruled Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay in the 1970s and 1980s, aimed at tracking down, capturing and eliminating left-wing opponents. [...]

Although there is abundant information on flights carrying political prisoners between Argentina and Uruguay, until now activists did not have official records showing that such flights existed between Uruguay and Paraguay.

"I also gave the Uruguayan Congress a copy of the document that records the birth of Operation Condor (in late 1975 in Chile) and outlines the mechanisms by which it functioned, as well as a list of Uruguayan officers who belonged to the so-called Anti-Communist League in 1977, which formed the basis of that repressive plan," said Almada.

"These documents also indicate that Korean Reverend Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church had links" to Operation Condor as well, he added.

Almada said that in September 1977, after Jimmy Carter became president of the United States, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) withdrew its support from Operation Condor.

Documents declassified in recent years in Washington, D.C. clearly demonstrate that Operation Condor was backed by the United States since its creation at the initiative of the Chilean dictatorship of Gen. Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).

After September 1977, "ties began to appear between Moon's sect and the local and Latin American Anti-Communist League. A finance company, Urundel, was even set up in Paraguay to serve as a bank for the repressive operations in that country," said Almada.

He added that Operation Condor, which basically kept its "administrative headquarters" in Paraguay, was conceived of and led by the armed forces in the region, which often made use of the police to help with the "dirty work". Industrialists were also accomplices in the case of Paraguay, he noted.

      ...

However, in the wake of the adoption of a human rights policy by U.S. President Jimmy Carter during his term from 1976 to 1980, support for Operation Condor was cut off by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency in 1977.

Almada claimed that Stroessner then relied primarily for guidance and assistance in Operation Condor activities on the Unification Church of the South Korean Sun Myung Moon sect under the cover of the World Anti-Communist League and the Pacific Anti-Communist League, both of which were backed by the KMT regime and headquartered in Taipei.

In 1975, Moon denounced WACL as being too facist, and claimed to sever connections between it and the UC. Reports in the New York Times, Searchlight and elsewhere, however, indicate the separation is nominal only. In 1985, WACL's Japanese branch was still run by Osami Kuboki who also headed the Japanese Unification Church.

Moon's also said Reagan was "chosen by God."

What sort of proper sexual habits? According to Moon, in order to restore blood purity, very specific practices are prescribed. Sex before marriage is out of the question, and when sexual consummation does happen, it must adhere to very specific instructions. First, a photograph of Moon must be nearby, so that everything occurs under the reverend's watchful eye. After two nights of woman-on-top sex, the couple reverse positions, whereupon the man, according to Moon, restores dominion over Eve, via the proper missionary position. Then, according to the instructions attributed to the U.C.'s American Blessed Family Department, "after the act of love, both spouses should wipe their sexual areas with the Holy Handkerchief" --referring to the church-supplied washcloth -- which must "be kept individually labeled and should never be laundered or mixed up."

Whenever a conservative mentions Wright, ANY conservative who mentions Wright or George Soros for that matter, they should be asked why they or their leaders worked with Moon. Of course we know why, without Moon conservatives would have never taken control of all three branches of our government in 2001. Gingrich revolution in 1994? Bullshit, it was the Moon revolution. He paid for it, molded it, propped it up.

Moon outspent anyone molding today's conservative.

Their leaders have worked with him. Moon brags about using his propaganda paper to "influence" our nation and IT HAS!!!

Moon is the "True Father" of today's conservative movement. Everyone wonders what happened to the Republican Party. Well, the reason is right is in front of us all. Absent Moon’s money and fronts today’s right would not have gained power, nor would they be as extreme or as easily controlled as they have become.

Our nation has a massive national security problem on its hands but the media will not cover it.

News World Communications, Inc. is a media corporation owned by the Unification Church, which is run by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. News World owns The Washington Times, a newspaper Moon began publishing in 1982. Reportedly the paper has lost

    [US] $1,000,000,000,

though it is widely believed that Moon has funded it at a loss to provide a political voice for the conservative right and the Church. Moon declared:

"The Washington Times will become the instrument
in spreading the truth about God to the world." [1].

News World also owns Insight Magazine, The World and I magazine, Middle East Times, Tiempos del Mundo, Segye Ilbo, Sekai Nippo, Zambezi Times, and United Press International.
