Also today, Michigan super, Eric Coleman, issued a statement stepping up for Obama. Many pointed out that Michigan supers do not count until its delegation is seated which is why Coleman was removed from today's  count.

    You should probably point out that the Michigan super doesn't actually add one to his tally by most counting methods (including the ones DCW and hence Kos are using) because Michigan supers, along with their pledged delegates, currently aren't eligible to be seated or vote at the convention.

    It helps for the Hillary-math view of the world and more support is always nice but saying "O+2" doesn't quite tell the whole story.

    For delegate count purposes, we don't count.  That's not altogether bad for Obama, though, as rough estimates of where people are right now have Clinton with an assumed lead of 20-8.  As far as announced delegates are concerned, Clinton had 8 or 9, depending upon whether, as expected, 7th Congressional District candidate Mark Schauer would be given an add-on slot.  Those who have thus far announced for Obama are limited to Coleman and Conyers.

        Florida and Micigan pledged delegates with half votes, with uncommitted to Obama, but no superdelegates.  Or perhaps, no superdelegates other than elected members of congress.  This makes the penalty stronger, without strengthening the disenfranchisement argument.  Also, it might make the state DNC members/state government a bit more reluctant to break the rules next time, if they know it's their vote that will be taken away.

        So, I would leave the Michigan S-delegate out of the count for now.

    Since many of the people wrangling the deal are supers, their egos need to be assuaged to make any deal work. Penalties will mostly likely only apply to pledged delegates, which is kind of bull****, but...whatever. Hopefully we'll abolish supers before 2012.

        She argues that vote totals reflect the strength of her campaign, while leaving out all the caucuses and pretending Obama would not receive a single vote in MI.

        When she says, "seat MI delegates", she argues that the vote in MI was fair because every knew that a vote for Uncommitted was a vote for Obama and there was a campaign in place.  Then when it comes time to count popular votes, none of the uncommitteds count for Obama.  

        Too bad for her this argument has to convince SDs. Too bad for the party that her supporters actually buy that shit.

    so what's your point?  He will be the presumptive nominee until the convention (Intrade doesn't pay out on their markets on the nominees until the convention, either).

    It is possible for Obama to get the majority of pledged delegates including MI and FL, depending on what the remaining Edwards delegates do. It doesn't really make any difference to Obama getting the nomination but it will shut up people like you.

  That's right. Sen. Obama won by only 7 votes, but that 7-vote victory was important. Not only was it another 'W' in his win column, halt the Rev. Wright crap and Pennsylvania loss with a 24-hour positive news cycle 'mini-bump' prior to NC and Indiana...but it will also be a 6 to 3 delegate split for Sen. Obama with the remaining three supers from Guam endorsing Sen. Obama. These three include their delegate in Congress, the party chair who was elected on May 3rd with the co-chair who is already with Obama, and the party's committeman.

  This announcement SHOULD come today, I've been told. Stay tuned...will report more as it breaks...

    It was a 2 to 2 split out of the caucus, which was eight delegates candidates with a half vote each. Then add these four total votes with the five supers who each have a full vote. It was 3 to 3 prior to today, with each candidate claiming one super. But with today's expected announcements, a three delegate victory out of nine was exactly what we were hoping for. Not a bad day for Guam and not a bad day for Barack.

    By the way, it was a huge upset, despite media reports to the contrary. Yes, we had an office opened for three weeks, but it was an uphill climb against the Clintons, both of whom visited the island in the '90s. It was a big deal...and a beautiful win. Guam will really rely on President Obama to give them that seat at the table that they so desperately deserve for being such patriotic Americans and not having a true voice in our country.
