    BUT... Hillary is an experienced politician, who should know better than anyone that using the word "assassination" was a giant no-no... so I unfortunately find myself wondering why she blurted out the statement as recorded... is that in her mind? Is that running through her thoughts?

  Even if you ignore allusion to RFK, her point is still flawed. The '68 and '92 campaigns went all the way to June BECAUSE California held its primary in June. This year, CA held its primary in February, and there is basically nothing left for Clinton. This just further provse that she is ADMITEDLY waiting in the weeds for something bad to happen. HOW PRESIDENTIAL.

  Gore, believed by many Democrats to have been unfairly denied the presidency in 2000 when he won the nationwide popular vote but lost in the electoral college to George W. Bush, put to rest the argument made by Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, that Florida's January primary votes ought to either be counted in the popular vote tally or ought to yield to Clinton the pledged delegates that were stripped last year by the Democratic National Committee.

  "In 2000, I knew the rules," intoned Gore.  "I did not win a majority of electoral votes, and I lost the election.

  "But I knew something else," Gore continued.  "I knew that contesting Florida's votes would throw this nation into turmoil.  That's why I conceded the election -- some would say gracefully -- to President Bush, once the Supreme Court ruled in Bush v. Gore.

  "That's why I now call on Hillary Clinton to gracefully concede the nomination to Barack Obama.  This nation can ill afford a contested Democratic National Convention.  She knew the rules, and she lost.  We can't change the rules now for her.

  "I know better than anyone else the pain of having won the popular vote but having lost a delegate vote," Gore concluded.  "Under some measures, Clinton can claim a popular vote win.  But that is not how Democrats nominate a presidential candidate, and that is why Clinton must concede."
