Sunday Night with the pooties

Yay! The Phoenix has landed, the Indiana Jones movie has not gotten as horrid reviews as I had feared (I am going on Tuesday night), and we don't seem (so far) to be getting horrific storms tonight here in Missouri. We have caught up on any rain deficit in a big way, however, and it is time for all of the farmers to hope for dry weather to get back into the fields.
I spent a lot of time this afternoon trying to explain why, even if I didn't believe Hillary meant that she hoped Obama was going to be killed, I was offended at what she did say, and no, I wasn't taking it out of context. And then I came home to this:

And all was good with the world. I got my three loving kittens through DailyKos. AnnCetera saw my tribute to my beloved Efrat on the site and offered three newborn orange tabbies that she had rescued. I have only had one kitten once before (Efrat) and only lived with two other cats before that. So I didn't know what I was getting into when I said yes.

I have been with them for two weeks as of today. And I am happy to be so completely loved, and owned by three dolls (mischievous ones, of course, but still...). It is challenging, of course -- they are not so good at scratching only where they are supposed to. They use scratching posts, but then they also use the dining room chairs' padded seats. They keep odd hours (but so do I in the summer) but love afternoon naps with me (Imeny, the boy, slept under the covers with me yesterday, behind my knees. Do I dare to hope that I have adopted a lovely new foot warmer for cold winter days?

They think the wine rack is a kitty jungle gym, and I have managed to stop them from playing with the computer cord by wrapping it with double-sided tape. Meryt (picture above the fold) likes to lie on my hand when I am typing, and enjoys watching YouTube videos. All of them seem to think walking across the keyboard is a perfectly appropriate activity. They would all generally like to be on top of me (and I worried that I would not be getting a lap cat -- what about when you have three fur stoles?), and purr up a storm.

Meryt has tufts coming out of her ears and between her toes, in addition to her longer fur elsewhere. The other two have short fur and all are adorable. Tuya is almost impossible when it comes to cutting her toenails, except when I catch her asleep. She doesn't usually sleep where I can catch her, unless the other two are twisted up with her. She also is the one who most loves catnip (she will scratch on the scratching post that has the most catnip). Here her pupils are really dilated. That is why. Good drugs.

They need medicine every night for another week, given by a syringe in the mouth. They come running when I get it out. My worst problem with them is to keep one from taking a syringe meant for another, as they would take two if I let them. Nice problem to have.

There is no political content here, other than I wish all of you had a cat or a kitten to come home to at the end of a stressful day. It is nice to take time to pet the kittens. Everyone needs some similar stress-relievers.
