As grim as the world seems tonight, I wanted to take a moment and say thank you to Kos and all the Kosmopolitans.
Because as so many Americans sit on their asses, not even paying attention to what's going on in their own country, Kos & Co. is at least doing something.
Doing a lot.
I suspect it doesn't seem like enough, that it never seems anyone can truly do enough. But you are. You've given us this place. You reach more people daily than many newspapers do. People speak the truth here and challenge us all to take action.
You have an audience that takes action against the horrible things going on.
That's big. It's huge.
The world seems overwhelming horrible most of the time, and it often seems hopeless to think anything will change.
It makes me rememeber the night Bush was elected, being in shock, thinking it couldn't be real. (And I still don't believe he was elected fairly.)
But in trying to console myself in the early morning hours of election night worrying that Ohio would somehow go for Bush and put him over the top, I remember thinking, Things must need to get worse before they can get better.
We already thought they were horrible, but obviously not enough people see how bad things truly are. They don't see Bush for what he is or see the evil he spreads.
We obviously need a huge awakening in this country, and if we're fortunate, Bush will be it. (And not someone even worse who comes after him.)
So let us work to make this the low point, to make sure that things get better from here. That we're in people's faces, forcing them to see what Bush has done to this country and ensuring that we never sink to this level again.
Try to take comfort in knowing we have 60,000 people here, and those are just the ones who are registered users, I think. People who do care and are willing to work.
We are not alone, even though it often feels like it.
60,000 people fighting, taking action. That's huge.
