The Truth About War {UpDated}

I posted this a few days ago without the update.

Visiting CBS last night looking for another report I found a followup with another 'Gold Star Mom' still questioning her sons death in Iraq and still getting no answers!

First the original:

What's the truth about War, the Real Truth, it's the prolific growth of the needed propaganda.

The propaganda that solidifies the needed support and fear instilled to continue.

Especially for the Wars of Choice, for they would quickly fall apart, or not fought at all, if the propaganda wasn't set forward and grown to justify.

Tonight on 60min they visited once again with a 'Gold Star Mother' who, along with her family, didn't buy the story of her sons death in Afganistan, a son who was a High Profile Figure for the powers that were that needed the growth of their Propaganda to Justify their wanted Wars of Choice!

A 'Gold Star Mother' who has been extremely tenacious in her search of the truth, not for her or her family but for the country of her son, Pat Tillmans, death!

Pat Tillman was a heroic face of the war on terror - an NFL star who left behind a $3.6 million contract and his new wife to fight for his country after the attacks of Sept. 11. When he died in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004, the Army told his family he'd been killed by enemy fire after courageously charging up a hill to protect his fellow Army Rangers.

But as Katie Couric reports, that story didn't hold up. He had really been killed by friendly fire, shot accidentally by his fellow soldiers.

For the past four years, his family, led by his mother Mary, has been searching for answers about what really happened, beginning the day she heard the news from Pat Tillman's wife Marie.

Too many questions linger about 9/11 and this War on Terror.

And there are questions as to how it somehow morphed into an invasion of an innocent country based on lies built upon propaganda, propaganda put together with bits and pieces of cherry picked intelligence and proven to be false, yet we're still there and thousands are dying and being maimed!

Those that made the choice of sending others, into invasion and occupation, to enrich themselves with power and wealth through death and destruction, are still saber rattling, growing the already overwelming hatreds of those invaded towards us and others in this world, Perpetual War!

We know the propaganda machine is well oiled as the lies continue. Including high ranking retired military officers used to put positive spin on the progress of the conflicts. Retired military officers on Defense Contractors payrolls and collecting monies from media outlets to report as Experts on what is going on in the theaters of operations, now known they were fed the information to say from the administration and pentagon.

As it continues unabated, The Country Does Nothing!!

•  I laff at the "We Won the Cold War" meme

  you look at Russia and China's influence, foreign public opinion, import/export numbers versus ours and wtf?  China now "owns our mortgage" thanks to previous policies.

  And OB-Laden?  2 goals he stated way back when were getting the US military out of Saudi Arabia and $150 per barrel oil.  Shrub retreated from the spanking new/sparkling air base in SArabia right off the bat.

  2000 it was $17 a bbl.  Yesterday over $120.

  Don't swallow the "we won the war" line, until that economic fact is explained.

      Because truth was absent from the beginning, how this was for control of the Iraqi oil flow (Cheney leasing the fields before the action commenced will probably be a truth exposed by Michael Moore's famous F9-11 maps)....our foes KNOW our armed forces are Petro Reliant.  

      Money sent to OPEC is money not spent on veterans and facilities.

      And usage of foreign oil will probably be found to have INCREASED since 2000.  

      The Hummer status symbol, and the Cadillac Escalade, will be the banners for our demise. Nazi Germany choked off from the oil fields, it was a strategy. Shrub's stratergy was "go spend money at the mall", (mostly for Chinese crap).

      Soldiers making minimum wage guarding convoys of $10,000 per month contractors is another clue to our loss of purpose.

  •  the price of oil was mostly in the 30s during

    2000 and going up.  YOu laugh that we won the cold war?  Who won the cold war?  Per capita income in Russia is $8,800 a year.  Per capita income in China is $1,740.  Both countries have increased their incomes greatly by adopting capitalism and only using Communism to attack religion, political dissent, and outside influences.

    I know you are trying to make a point about how we can do better, but hyperbole should at least be signified with an asterisk.  BTW, if China owns our mortages as you purport, then they are in big trouble because they lost a hell of a lot of money.

      Russia is now basically run by a Kremlin mafia.  Ideological differences replaced by efficient blackmail/graft and corruption.

      Experts claimed Vietnam was part of the domino theory, so "experts" got it wrong, Vietnam is a trading partner of ours.

      Experts claimed sanctions would work in Cuba, that never has panned out.

      Carter's Energy Conservation plans were gutted by Reagan, and public opinion does not see how destructive that was.

      As to China owning our note, what would happen if they made a margin call, after the Olympics of course?

      •  trust me, I agree we have serious issues to face

        but to say some other country "won the Cold War" is just not true.  People are clamoring to enter this country for a reason, for all its faults.  China will not make a margin call, China needs our currency to stay strong, more than we do.  The more our currency falls, the more our debts fall.  Our manufacturers are in salad days, they love that they can beat anyone on price.

        Again, I am just trying to offer a bit of reality to the America is down and out meme.  Even when I try to make a point, I use real figures, not hyperbole.  We can do better, no question there.

  An indictment of our Army's competence

  The latest outrage is a father’s video of a U.S. Army barracks at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, the home of the famed 82nd Airborne Division.

  We don’t want to see a single American soldier living like a dog in government quarters so filthy and broken they'd make a slumlord blush. We don’t want to see another American soldier wounded in battle being treated and housed with any less care and attention than a retired general with hemorrhoids routinely gets at an Army hospital.

  This is the bottom line, the core competency, for Army leaders: Take Care of Your Soldiers First. See that they're sheltered and fed first. The best military leaders I've known never ate or slept until they'd first seen to the needs of their soldiers. Never. Got that? NEVER.

  This goes much further than the Military Brass. In the build up to the invasion of Iraq, not One Republican Congress Person, they had Controll, nor anyone in this Corrupt Administration, Even Mentioned Care of nor Enhanced Budgetting for the Military Personal they were sending into Both Theaters, remember that show of Support!!!!!

  An Oregon couple received a frightening phone call from their son in Afghanistan when he inadvertently called home during battle.

  Stephen Phillips and other soldiers in his Army MP company were battling insurgents when his phone was pressed against his Humvee. It redialed and called his parents in the small Oregon town of Otis.
