Dear Hillary, please make me unemployed

Ms. Clinton--

I'm hoping you can do me a favor within the next couple of days. You have it within your power, in a unique kind of way.

I want you to cause me to lose my job.  

Please?

You see, I recently volunteered to work as a precinct captain for the Obama campaign. Yeah, we're gearing up for the primary here in Kentucky on May 20th. I know, I know, this is supposed to be a solid "Clinton State." Sorta like Indiana.

I live in a blue oasis in the state, so there are actually Democratic voters here. I'm pretty energized. I haven't been this excited over a candidate in my entire 23 years of voting. I mean, Obama really connects with me, you know.

But, the primary in Kentucky is still a week or so away. There's alot of work to be done. We're going to canvass, phone bank, hold rallies. In some ways it seems like we're just setting the stage for November. Getting the machinery in place, you know? Of course, I'm just a foot soldier. I don't mind, though. Like I said, I'm totally stoked.

But I'm hoping that you'll put me out of a job. You can do it, and it's very easy.

All you have to do is step down from the primary race. We both know you can't win. We both know that at this late stage we've energized the voters, registered the masses, and set the stage for a major ass-whupping of John McCain in November. You won't be a big part of that.

But you can help it along. You can do your part by putting me out of work. Make my job as a precinct captain obsolete.

  But I have to give her credit for fighting as hard as she has - if the primaries ended earlier, how many newly registered voters wouldn't have been engaged?

  First & foremost, thank you for volunteering for a campaign. Its folks like you who are key - here's hoping tonights results bring in MORE new voters, too!

    I'm not among those who thought that a drawn out campaign was a bad thing. We registered hundreds of thousands. It's been great.

    But now it's over. Time to focus.

      ...missed the forest thru the trees regarding this long, protracted primary. While McCain had an easy ride, our party turned out huge numbers of new voters.

      Up until a couple weeks ago, I was hoping she'd ride it out until Denver to keep the enthusiasm up in the remaining states. But when the negativity got downright vicious, I wanted to see tonight become a reality.
