With Malice Toward None

Hillary's campaign maybe in its last hours or its last month.  Either way, the Clinton Civil War is coming to a close.  The attempt of coup by superdelegate has failed.  Actually, the attempt was futile from start.  She had lost over two months ago when she lost eleven in a row.

I understand the urge to gloat.  Bill and Hillary have driven me crazy for the better parts of three months. They acted like our opponents--using Rove tactics and Republican attack lines.    

But now our civil war is drawing to a close.  And we must remember what is at stake.  We are one party.  We are all Americans.  And for too long our government has been only interested in helping the rich and powerful.    

At this moment, I think Lincoln put it best about the task ahead of us in healing our party for November and our nation once Obama takes the oath of office:

With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan -- to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.

  Lookin forward to the general election campaign and being able to get really down and dirty with the Republicants. There's a certain amount of fight you have to keep in against other democrats (something Hillary does not understand or comprehend), but I want all-out war with the Repubs.

  but the penultimate paragraph was much more grim and somber:

  Would that we in our time would have a politician of that kind of high moral and spiritual force, honest and forthright enough to bluntly admit that sacrifice would be needed and the way forward not an easy one.

    Say rather, "Thank God that we in our time have a politician of that kind of high moral and spiritual force, honest and forthright enough to bluntly admit that sacrifice is needed and the way forward not an easy one."
