New Yorkers! Help turn NYC's last red seat blue!

Republican Vito Fossella, who has accomplished little in the congress while remaining a steadfast Bush supporter, is, sadly, struggling with some personal demons right now-- notably his recent DWI arrest and disclosure that he has fathered a child with a mistress.
It's time to put a Democrat in his seat. New Yorkers, I give you Steve Harrison...
In 2006, I spent a fair amount of time diary-ing on behalf of Steve Harrison, Fossella's Democratic challenger, as he competed to represent the 13th district, which encompasses Bay Ridge (Brooklyn) and Staten Island. In spite of having virtually no support from the Democratic "machine" (and very little money), he gave Fossella a bit of a scare in the waning days of the campaign.
Questions abound about whether Rep. Fossella will defend his seat or step aside this fall.
Fossella's misfortune does, however, provide a circumstantial opening for Harrison, who, on top of being a great guy, a well-spoken advocate for progressive causes, and a native son of Bay Ridge.
I'm writing to urge New Yorkers (and visitors!) to volunteer and contribute on behalf of Steve Harrison! This is our year!
