    It would be interesting to see how 2008 compared to 2004 on a few select days.  
    I'm too new here to determine which days might be relevant, but maybe it's something someone could look at to see if the idea has any merit.

•  Good morning

  Today, grassroots supporters of The Peace Alliance (of which I am one) are delivering pies to members of congress around the country and to all in DC.

  The DC efforts have been a real trip  - dealing with security.  Apparently you can deliver books (remember when Crashing the Gate was delivered to all?) but not pies.  Who knows what might be hiding in the apple filling.  

  And packets of information?  Unless they are the plans for a new fighter jet, they would really rather you didn't.  Since Whole Foods was already delivering 450 pies - we had to find some work arounds. i.e. a staff person has to come down and GET the pie.  

  And... if anyone on the street walks up and wants a pie, we have to give it to them... seriously.

  It has been a trip trying to get around all of the obstacles.  Grassroots access to our elected reps gets harder and harder.

  The pies are used to illustrate what a small slice of the Federal Budget Pie it would take to have a Department in the government, whose function would be to bring together successful peacebuilders to find ways to spread the successes across our schools, neighborhoods and globe.

  

  I am not able to be in DC or deliver a pie in person, but I bought the pie for delivery to my rep in South Dakota today.
