Jesus, not this bullshit again:

A billboard on display in Orange County, Florida shows the World Trade Center towers burning while telling passers-by: "Please Don’t Vote for a Democrat." The local ABC News affiliate reports that the person responsible is a local musician "trying to help Republicans" but that "officials with both political parties are calling the billboard inappropriate."

This is already making the rounds across the Internets, but I thought it prudent to put up an action alert here, as the sponsor of this billboard is quite happy to advertise both his Web site and contact information for you to spend five bucks on his shitty CD (and EVEN have him perform at your next social event!). The excitement never ends.

More at the jump.

As a resident of nearby Tampa Bay, FL, I'd like to say that I'm comforted by the notion that "officials with both political parties are calling the billboard inappropriate," but I'm not.

Running on the typical GOP "9/11! 9/11! 9/11!" fearmongering is so...2004 (unless you're Rudy Giuliani; then it's so 2007). However, a rotund St. Cloud, FL country-and-western musician by the name of Mike Meehan has written a charming little ditty that he'd love the WHOLE WORLD to know about, so the less-informed voters in our country who get their information from, ummm, Swift Boat Vets and billboards will know who to vote for in November.

To add insult to injury (literally), he is invoking the 9/11 terrorist attacks in an attempt to call Democratic political candidates negligent killers. This is an obviously disgusting insult, but what is further offputting is his "good-old boy," rural-America music video, complete with a young woman graduating from a taxpayer-funded school and holding his crappy CD to the "little lady" dancing around in the kitchen (where she DAMN BELONGS, dammit!) /snark

Meehan's song itself hits on ALL of the typical wrong-wing talking point hits, complete with veiled racism, theocratic religiousity, and warmongering (because, you know, Jesus was SUCH a lover of war and hater of Iraqi citizens):

The Democrat secular progressive move,
political correctness is killing us too.
They want to take the money from the hard workin man,
and give it to the lazy folks that don't give a damn

"Lazy folks that don't give a damn"=code for them thar minor'ties who suck on the teet of MARXISM, or whatever.

Democrats and Liberals shame on you,
don’t punish us all just to please a few.
No we can’t afford to have another attack,
and that’s why we can’t vote for a Democrat.

Yeah, don't punish all of us by giving us all better educations, more opportunity, more financial security, access to healthcare, and more personal freedoms! Geez, that would be horrific!

And here comes the "I-love-war" money shot, complete with a dig at people who don't think drilling for more national-drug-of-oil is such a great idea. And yeah, he is pretty punctuation-phobic, as you can see below:

Now we're trying to win a war and wipe out the terrorists,
We're not fightin for oil we got plenty if we drill it.
But the liberals and the media are spreading their lies,
Get the hell out of our way and let our soldiers fight.

I just couldn't stop from snickering at this bit of satire (Republicans respect the Constitution and the rule of law!! Bwhahahaha, that's a GOOD one!):

Republicans, we're not perfect but we know the truth
We uphold the Constitution and the Golden Rule.
We believe a mans freedom is a God given right,
the USA is the beacon to the whole world in sight.

Our Constitution, Nation and God are under attack,
Oh no, please, oh no please, don't vote for a Democrat.

Yes, the song is that bad, but the billboard is even worse. Here is a screenshot of it (H/T ThinkProgress):

His Web site has, um, already been linked to above.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
