Lily, for those of you who don't know, is my sister's puppy. She's a cute mix of Chihuahua and Jack Russell terrier, we think. The Chihuahua part is obvious. She's a sweet little dog who loves cuddles, and barks fiercely at imagined intrusions into her human's space. Chihuahuas - even 8 pound wonders like Lily - know little fear.
Isn't she a cutie pie?
Recently, however, something has come into the house that has Lily worried.
It doesn't look threatening to me, but Lily sees it completely differently. When it first came into the house, it was innocently concealed in a plastic bag. And then it came out.
Lily reacted immediately. Her ears went down, the fur on her back raised, and she lowered her entire body. And she growled. And growled. She even barked a bit.
Several times a day, Lily walks in the vicinity of The Head, which is temporarily living on my printer, and she expresses her displeasure that this thing is still here.
Ears flatten. Growls. Slinks away, rolling eyes in the direction of The Head.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
We're getting quite the kick out of it. You never know what will spook an animal. Horse people know this; the last time we were out for a trail ride, the young lead horse was spooked by every barrel cactus we passed. He skittered around them as if they were coming after him.
