For those of you who attended last year's Netroots Candidates' Celebration and had a blast, there is good news....

Netroots Nation is doing it again!

Netroots Nation aims to recognize Netroots candidates—at all levels—and shine a spotlight on those who organize and mobilize progressives locally.

As part of Netroots Nation 2008, the Netroots Candidates Event will be held Friday evening, July 18th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM in the Hilton Ballroom. This event will provide an opportunity for candidates to meet and engage convention attendees—activists, bloggers, sponsors, donors, and members of the media who are each vital pieces to any successful campaign.

Last year’s event, sponsored by VShift, was a smashing success with more than 700 attendees and 40 candidates from all over the country—including campaigns from races for town clerk to U.S. Senate and everything in between.

We need your help

If you are a candidate, working with a candidate or event know a candidate or have some contact info, let them and me know so we can get an invite out to them.

We'll need to know a few details from them:

  • The office for which the candidate is running
  • Photo (high res - digital) for our program
  • SHORT bio

Also, all campaigns will be given table space to put out their information and stuff....and, of course, be part of the official Netroots Nation Candidate Photo. We are creating a program with autograph space provided for souvenirs.

If you have any questions, information or suggestions, please drop me a line or email me at brian at netrootsnation dot org.

This party was one of the highlights of last year's convention and we have every expectation that this year's won't disappoint.

Please recommend so we can get as many candidates involved as possible...and if you have photos from last years' event, post them in the thread.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
