The elephant, an icon that stuck after appearing in a political cartoon by Thomas Nast in 1874, has had a good run serving as the symbol for the Republican Party.
But does it truly embody today's Republican?
As a concerned citizen, I feel it is our duty to help the GOP rebrand itself and update its' image with one that is more emblematic and timely. With your help, I am sure we can come up with something that is truly representative in this modern day and age.
This is the first thing that came to mind personally. With McCain's outright dismissal of Senator Obama's suggestions for immediately decreasing our demand for oil, at the very least it would be a good logo for the Republican policy on fossil fuels.
Then I came across this:
Probably too much going on to use as a mascot per se, but it captures the misogyny and sexism most recently displayed at Sturgis by McCain himself along with the flat tire theme. (Is that Johnny Mac in the back?)
The "Spill Here, Spill Now Party" - Any seafaring creature will do, just as long as they are covered in oil.
This sums up 3 key principles of a Republican administration:
-Their stance on the environment and their obliviousness to the recent oil spill near the mouth of the Mississippi and the 124 Offshore Spills Of 743,700 Gallons caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
-Who they are beholden to as opposed to the average Joe suffering from mental recession.
-The crown jewel of their alternative* (wink, wink) energy policy.
The "Don't Look Before You Leap Party" - A pack of lemmings.
This video portrays the shortsighted fanatacism of the Republican party and where it is leading us as a nation.
The "Republican Said It, I believe it, That Settles It Party" - An Ostrich
This image represents the mentality of a die hard Republican who has no qualms about supporting a party no matter how much they lie, cheat, or fail.
The "Evolution Is BS, Even If I Do Act Like An Ape Party" - A Monkey
This is an homage to our fearless leader and his exemplary performance over the past 8 years. (I apologize to our distant primate cousins for the insult)
The "I'm A Rubber And You're Screwed Party" - A used prophylactic device.
Because a condom accepts inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you’re actually getting screwed. (Old, but pertinent to the topic at hand)
The "You Might Want To Lube Up Party" - Pretty much speaks for itself.
For that special place that the Republicans have been screwing us. With this, we can just relax and enjoy it like Mr. Lieberman has suggested as of late.
Your input is vital, the Republican party needs your help! Every moment you delay is a moment wasted in which we could be fighting terrists, homosexuals, the atmosphere, birth control, those damn socialist/ communist/Islamic countries that don't capitulate to us, and women (especially Paris Hilton!)
With your support we are going to win the election/war/surge the right way.... By winning!
