This morning I heard an NPR report that an effort to keep net neutrality had been shot down in committee in Congress. I believe it was Congressman Barton (R) who argued that the telecoms and cable companies who had invested in 'big pipes' were entitled to make a profit on their investment and now they'd have an incentive to build them everywhere.
Funny thing. Didn't FDR catch hell for his rural electrification program, way back when? The government forcing electricity down people's throats in defiance of market forces crippled the power industry in this country for decades, right? Don't these people understand the Public Good concept? What's good for Business is good for America.
At least
Randy Newman understands.
