I'm passing this letter on from a friend in Ohio working for ACT:
Howard Dean told our offices last week it was a civil war, and I'm realizing he wasn't joking. It's insane what's going on here in Ohio. They're trying to steal the election again. Here's a brief list of some of the GOP actions in Ohio:
--Ohio's GOP secretary of state attempted to disqualify 100,000 ballots apps for being on the wrong size paper (failed--you probably heard about this)
--Toledo democratic headquarters robbed, entire 6-month-gathered voter database stolen forever (succeeded--money on table was not taken)
--Nader still printed on absentee ballots, even though he was disqualified (succeeded)
--sticker saying Nader was REMOVED FROM BALLOT placed over John Kerry's name (succeeded) on absentee ballots in several large counties
--3500 out-of-state GOP operatives coming to town to harrass poverty-level new voters for "breaking the law" (incoming)
and as of this weekend:
--Ohio's GOP secretary of state sued to make illegal the previously-legal usage of provisional ballots (where people can vote in a different precinct if they can't get to their own--college students and poor people who have moved, been laid off, or work far from home, are affected by this--90% democrats) (succeeded!)
It's fucking insane. If everyone who wants to legally vote can vote, we will win. But they are trying to disenfranchise tens of thousands of people, just like in Florida.
