Looking at a display of Haitian art today, I got to thinking how horrible it is that Haiti is so messed up, and the I was struck by this question:
Why did it only occurred to me today that the real appeasement of international terrorists wasn't in Spain, but Haiti?
As Kossacks know, when the Spanish government lied to the public to get political gain from a tragedy, the people rejected it as crass and offensive. There is little actual evidence that there was any thought of giving in to the terrorists, the appeasement that was so wide-spread in the American media.
Why did no one say to David Brooks, or the Kansas City Star editorial board (to choose a couple of quick examples): "Why wasn't the capitulation of the American government to thugs on the streets of Haiti a greater act of appeasement than anything the Spanish voters did?"
Remember, we responded to armed thugs who wanted Aristide out of office by ... taking Aristide out of office.
