In case anyone has a whole bunch of free time (like I do right now), head over to opensecrets.org, the home of tons of information about campaign financing. Any donation above $200 has to be officially reported, and over the past few cycles, they've got a thorough list. Now, there aren't any donations that have happened since March, but I've come up with some interesting results I want to share. Look up some famous people and see what comes up.
Clinton, William: Mark Pryor and Mike Ross, $1000 each (both Arkansas elections, Senate and House)
Al Gore: Tim Johnson, Hillary Clinton, Walter Mondale in 2000 Senate races. He gave $1000 to Howard Dean in Feburary, then maxed out to Kerry in mid-March.
Howard Dean: None that I could find. There's a Howard Dean who gave $2000 to Bush, but I think that's someone else (he lives in Illinois)
John Kerry: $1000 to Chris Kouri, Ted Kennedy, David Walters, Wade Sanders, and Bill Nelson, plus $25,000 to the DNC .
John McCain: $2000 to Bill Jones, running against Barbara Boxer.
Sean Hannity, Bill O'Rielly, Ann Coulter, David Brooks, Cal Thomas, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh: Bupkus
Al Franken, $2000 to Kerry.
Zuninga, Markos: $0. Ahem.
Play along!
